Getting tickets for the Chicago show when I live in Michigan

Post by jennifha »

I'm planning on going to the Chicago show, but I live in Michigan. I'm trying to figure out a game plan for getting tickets. I've been to Tweeter twice before. I remember getting tickets once before on Ebay because we decided to go last minute. I can't remember how I got tickets the other time. Does anyone know if ticketmaster in Michigan sells tickets for Chicago shows? How quickly does the Chicago show sell out? Would I be able to get through on the phone or internet to get tickets? I'm just happy that he's touring this year!

I've bought tickets for San Diego, Jones Beach, Chicago and GW all on the net before while living in Massachusetts. I imagine he'll sell out pretty quickly as GW sells out within minutes... You also should be able to get through on the phone... last year for philly I got through with no problems through NewEra..

all depends---since there is no thursday show going on sale first, this one should sell out within 8 minutes or so. Usually with the Thursday show goin on sale first---people hold out for a saturday---leaving Thursday not to sell out for 3 or 4 days after tickets go on sale.

What people need to remember is-- the World (Tweeter) does hold about 40.000 people. This is more then twice of what Great Woods holds (19,000) and almost 3 times what Woodlands holds (15,000)

all the above info is right-on the internet, you can buy tickets for anywhere from anywhere. that, coupled with the thought that this is the only show, means this will sell out extremely quickly.

So get your fingers poised on that keyboard!

I remember when I worked in a record store that had a TM outlet, we could only pull tickets for Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. We had to "switch systems" to sell for Pennsylvania or Indiana. That required about two or three minutes worth of typing and waiting, which was something were weren't willing to do on an "On-Sale Saturday."

If there were a bunch of people in line for a show that was going on sale for Columbus, no way were we going to stop in the middle and try to get tickets for Philadelphia.

While this was about 15 years ago, I don't think things have changed too much. Last year I was trying to get tickets for 2 Alan Jackson shows while I was on vacation in West Virginia. Kroger could get the Columbus tickets for me, but not the Indianapolis show.

But, like mentioned above, the phone and the internet will allow you to buy tickets through TM anywhere in the U.S. (providing there are no delays in place).

Call ahead to the TM outlet that you normally buy for and ask them if they can pull tickets for a show in Illinois.

Just remember, by the time you call and get thru they will be gone. For the last couple of years, My Wife stood in line I went on line while dialing to tm. We got out 2 tickets on line. Shutout on all the rest :( Good luck.

If you want Chicago tixs and live in Michigan and are calling TicketBastard you will want to call the Chicago TM # and not your Michigan #.

TM will only sell tixs over the phone to the TM office you called. Even though all the calltakers are sitting down in Texas in one office.

Had it happen one year to me, I got through on the Philly number and they would not sell me Pittsburg tixs.

Actually, there are 7 TM call centers - Texas, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, California and Wisconsin.

Agreed!

But all the calls are routed to those 7 call centers and they know which TM # you called. If the venue is outside that # that you dialed then you are out of luck.

Actually, I have bought tickets to Shoreline twice by phone, calling once from Wisconsin, and once from the Chicago area.

I, too, have never had a problem getting tickets for other parts of the country by calling the Columbus number. But it is TM...anything is possible.

Just pointing out my experience to Jennifha. I hate to see someone miss out because of TM rule.

From TM website http://www.ticketmaster.com/h/faq.html :

Can I improve my odds for getting tickets by purchasing through one particular distribution channel?
When an event goes on sale, tickets can be purchased online, by phone or in person. We do not reserve a specific amount of tickets for different distribution channels, so the odds of getting tickets are the same no matter how you choose to get your tickets. (Please note that phone centers and ticket outlets generally sell tickets only for a specific geographic region.)
