eh..ok just wondering what kind of woodpecker is in Colorado this time of year...

I'm only familiar with Eastern birds..and Texas..which they include Oklahoma in that...I know that Colorado is Western and I don't know much about those..I'm by far, no expert on any of them...I do know one from the other..and sometimes familiar with their calls...

Ick, carpenter bees. Now there's one type of bug I was not sad to see the exterminator rid my back steps of. They had created a nice nest in our banister, and decided to all come say hi to me one hot sticky day while I was on the stairs.

A hospital stay later (highly allergic to bee stings and if that wasn't good enough, I fell down the stairs while I was flailing my arms. Fortunately, the dog had enough sense to run into the house whining.

Fortunately, they had only infested the banister and not the steps themselves, so it wasn't nearly as expensive to fix. :(

I actually had no idea of that up until then. Fortunately, we have a running contract with Ehrlich where they come every three months and spray the house and respond to emergency calls in between. The only thing that doesn't cover is termite damage and ridding, but they test for it. They were there within two hours after my husband called and sprayed the whole outside of the house and treated the banister. Even came back the next day to verify that what they had used had done the job.

Well worth my 30$ a month with my allergies to stings.

Other scare tactics include placing hawk or owl cutouts on the house, hanging balloons in the area, a child's pinwheel, flash tape, strings of shiny, noisy tin can lids, wind chimes and/or pulsating water sprinklers.
I recommend you do all of these at the same time... and see what the neighbors think!

Biggest laugh of the day!!! Thanks, Tiki Bar!

We had a regular old bird attacking its reflection in my mom's bedroom window. We taped the pictures from dog food and cat food bags, a dog greeting card... Finally duct-taped a stuffed cat up there and it quit! It does look quite silly, good thing we don't have any neighbors on that side of the house...
