From what peeks behind the scenes I've had it appears they work out the setlists months in advance of the tours. Judging from the setlists I've seen they really don't differ that much from night to night. From that standpoint it seems like he would mix it up more to make it more exciting for the band and the audience but that's yet to happen.raycharlesdancer wrote:i am not sure Bubba even knows what he is going to play every single night. Wouldn't it make it kind of boring for everyone involved?
I agree, it basically is the same setlist with a few twists. From what I would guess, it would be unfair to the Coral Reefers to just tell them during sound check and warm up to play songs that they haven't played in years. If you tell them that say, Woman Goin Crazy will be a staple for this tour, then the Reefers have time to perfect itJahfin wrote:From what peeks behind the scenes I've had it appears they work out the setlists months in advance of the tours. I would love it if they just mixed it up every night. That's one reason I like some of the 'jambands' like the Dead, Allman Bros. and Widespread Panic. You never know what you're going to see. For example, I saw WP 3 nights in LA last summer....they didn't play the same song twice. If you see JB 3 nights in a row, you're going to get pretty much the same setlist all 3 shows.jonesbeach10 wrote:I agree, it basically is the same setlist with a few twists. I'd like to hear Bank of Bad Habits, Manana, Whino and I Know, Hokey Pokey, Lone Palm. any of those or others we don't usually hearhippiejen wrote:Requests?
Songs you haven't heard in a while and would like to see him do this year - please no SYKBH!!!
I would love to hear him do "Happily Ever After" from Banana Wind.
Just thinking aloud here - Bubba will do what he wants.
The cool thing about Phish, they never even played the same songs the same way. They can twist several songs together into quite a jam.OystersandBeer wrote:I agree. I used to go watch Phish and could go to four or five shows a summer and hear completely different setlists. Part of the fun was seeing if they would play any of my top five picks for the shows.
If Jimmy did would you still go to the show?LIPH wrote:Since it's the Party At The End Of The World tour, maybe he'll cover Billy Joel's Miami 2017,
The downside being that these overlong jams often lead to an overwhelming desire to take a nap.tjtryon wrote:The cool thing about Phish, they never even played the same songs the same way. To each their own but I'm speaking from personal experience so it's not like I'm automatically lumping them into the boring jamband category like those other snoozers, the Dave Matthews Band. Your mileage may vary and obviously does which is wonderful but they are probably among my least favorite jambands ever, the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers Band being tops but even those two bands were (and are) very capable of off nights as well. Hell, that's better than the groups that get out there and play the same exact setlist night after night.OystersandBeer wrote:No way. The jams are the best part. Their improv skill was amazing. The best I've ever seen.
Buffett didn't stop playing A Pirate Looks at 40 just because "Fingers" was no longer a Reefer. The same may very well hold true for the songs that previously featured horns.BadHabitsAcctnt wrote:I think the set list will change some this year, limited horn section.
