But it was the Grateful Dead so the fans were probably all stoned and didn't realize what they were doing.

sorry I have been in planning sessions for a few shows (not Jimmy)
and this is not a decision made at vendor level.
for some Shows it is a request by the security firm
at others made by the "owners" of the building
IE on a Campus, the Admin. makes this "call"

and yes in some cases it is to control Amounts

also by strange logic to control age. the prevelent belief is
"put the prices high enough and the Kids will not try and buy
drinks"

heck, its the kids that have all the money.....at least where around where I live.....they all drive 2005 and > cars.....I still drive a 95. *sigh*
that logic is kinda backward to me too

Back when I was walking a darker path

I scalped tickets.. I would buy Grateful Dead tix at 18$
and catch the kiddies coming out of the BMWs

ands hit them for 150$ and I would sell between
15-20 tickets to each show I made..

ohhhh, you did visit a darker place didn't you?
Hey they only carried so much cash and by them
spending that much on tix they had less for drugs.. :pirate:

also I almost kept one back and gave someone a Miracle

OK OK it was a cute Hippy chick but I did give one. :pirate:

I saw a few shows and I have a few cds..

I hunt and fish and eat bad things so I don't fit into the scene :D
also my politics aren't too well accepted. :)

but I do love some of the music and I do love a parking lot.. :pirate:

also just before/as Jerry died I was in the middle of a
deal to trade my truck for a mini-bus
to take a year off to follow the band.

Jerrys death hit hard in more than one way.

I was refering to the high cost of tix these days in general not just for Buffett. It just so happens he's playing a Sunday here which makes attending that show out of the question. I never mentioned anything about his music being "old and played out" or that I could see "other bands that were more exciting". I was refering to paying less for attending shows at more intimate venues vs. attending shed/stadium concerts. I do attend those but very rarely. When I do it's because it's someone I really wanna see.
