Any tips on getting good tix?
Planning on buying tix for the Charlotte show. Any tips on getting good tickets for the show? It's been a while since I've had the extreme pleasure of going through good ole TicketMaster.
Is it best to buy online, call in or actually go to a TicketMaster window/agent/store?
Is there any actual hopes of getting decent seats in the first several rows?
Thanks for any insight and advice.

Most of the time it is pure luck. I have never had luck for a confirmed SELLOUT show via the phone. Getting in line is fine if there are 8 of you going and you have to pull ticket numbers - someone has the chance of getting seats, I think the max is still 8.Fin wrote:Planning on buying tix for the Charlotte show. I go on line - that is where I have luck. BUT you need to set up your account via TicketMaster a good two days prior! Log on about 5 minutes prior, keep refreshing the screen. I go for Lawn - someday I will want front row. Right now I'm enjoying the lawn.
(Of course I know some people that cover all 3 bases)
Good luck!

Getting tickets is very much like playing Lotto.
There are several different ways to go about it, but in the end it comes down to chance.
You can get online, or stand in line.
(You can choose your own numbers or get random picks.)
You can coordinate with friends and colleagues or go it alone.
(You can play with friends and colleagues or go it alone.)
You can spend a lot of dough, or lay out just enough for a couple lawn seats.
There is never a guarantee that you will get what you hope for, but somebody will.
Might as well please yourself. If you like the experience of standing in line with the great unwashed, go for it. If you're happier staying at home in front of your computer, or dialing the phone from the comfort of your easy chair -- that's just as good.
[Sagan]Millions and millions[/Sagan] of tickets to major concerts have been sold over the years and nobody has ever revealed the secret to "getting good seats" because there is none.
If you are connected somehow to the entertainment business there may be odds in your favor. Otherwise, the only way to improve your chances is to pad them with lots of dollars and give them to a ticket broker (scalper).
Good luck, enjoy. If you strike out, there's always next year (or the parking lot).

Ehhhh, my mother (a PH) was something like 4th in line for a Jones Beach show a few years ago and she got shut-out. Given, it is smaller than most venues, but I would go with max 4 or 5 on the bigger venues.karat wrote:Most of the time it is pure luck. Thanks for the replies folks. I used to have good connections with a few other groups and have been spoiled with good seats and passes to their shows. Just wish that was the case with JB.I'll probably get online at home.
If it doesn't work out then I'll be shelling out $ to a scalper....

I was third back when I was shut out years ago...do to some IDIOT who could not decided which under cover seats he wanted. You just don't do that when shows sell out that quick.jonesbeach10 wrote:Ehhhh, my mother (a PH) was something like 4th in line for a Jones Beach show a few years ago and she got shut-out. Last year got shut out at TM because their computers were having problems at this one location. The year before that they handed out the lottery tickets over an hour before the sale time and when I arrived they said they arleady did the drawing and everyone else had to get at the end of the line. And I got there almost an hour early. Total BS, they should not draw the lottery until a few minutes before they go onsale.
But, got lucky with a friend at another TM last year, drew #1 in the lottery, got 4 section 1 tix for GW!! Hopefully this year will be just as good.

Always, always check out the location a few days before and find out their rules for the lottery.Total BS, they should not draw the lottery until a few minutes before they go onsale.
I have always stood in line for tickets, but unless someone knows of a Ticketmaster location in Morehead City, I will be trying for tickets online for the Charlotte show.

You know, another thing that is sometimes helpful is to go to a ticketmaster that isn't right next door to the venue. Last year when we went to Cincinnatti we bought tickets in Painesville and were the only people at ticketmaster to get Buffett tickets; however, two years ago when my dad and brother went to Cuyahoga Falls (an hour drive from here) and bought tickets at the same ticketmaster there was a massive line and they did a lottery. My two cents
I still love old magazines and Snickers bars....

there is no rhyme or reason to an method. This year I did the same thing I have done in years past, go to my local Department store with a tickemaster outlet. I go to the same one everytime, since 1998. The worst seats they have ever pulled for me up to this year was 4th row center. This year i was first in line (as usual) and the best she could pull for me was lawn, 5 minutes later my wife got pretty decent pavillion seats on the internet.
It is all luck of the draw. The only 100%sure fire way to get really good seats is to buy through a scalper. Ticketmast now requires that if there are 3 or more people waiting to buy tickets they do a lottery. Not every retail location follows this rule but more are starting to . The place I go never has until this year. There were about 15 of us in line and we just agreed to go in the order in which we arrived, we still had to do the lottery drawing but simply ignored the order that came through that.

other states
A friend of mine used to call TicketMaster in a different state to get his tickets for PGH. Never failed him. But problem is, I think not so long ago - ticketmaster goes to central areas. IE: PGH tickets, look up Louisville KY's number or like Maine. Hell it is worth a shot, right?Jason Mason wrote:You know, another thing that is sometimes helpful is to go to a ticketmaster that isn't right next door to the venue.
