Charlotte Tailgating
I am hoping to be able to get tix to the Charlotte show, does anyone know if they open the lots early and do they allow tailgating? Thanks for any help on this.

Last year the show was at the old coliseum, this year it's at Verizon. You'll have to stumble about 15 miles if you stay at the Hamptonland_shark3 wrote:Last year, I tailgated across the street at the Hampton Inn. No grills in the front lot, but you can hide them in the back.
No traffic and stumbling distance to the show.

Is it really that far? I was thinking of staying at the Hampton (if I get tickets tomorrow) and taking a taxi back and forth. Yahoo and Google have the difference at around 4 miles....but we all know how reliable those can be at times.
I'd love to get some first hand knowledge.

I've tailgated at other venues here in NC, but I've heard Verizon wasn't as "friendly" as those others. I'm hoping they learned from the last Buffett concert held there and will change for this concert. We went ahead and bought premier parking passes. I've heard that's what the Charlotte Parrothead club is doing in order to tailgate. Just hoping we will be able to party in the lot before the concert.

Think there is any chance of more Premier passes being offered before the show? I tried to get one at the same time as the tickets and it was a no go.mirrorthatlies wrote: We went ahead and bought premier parking passes. Well....I've just answered my own question. I just went back to Ticketmaster to see if there would be any...and low and behold....one came up.
So...I guess there are more available.

does it say what time the lot will open?
you can't lay on the beach and drink rum all day if you don't start in the morning

I don't know about this venue....never have been there....but in most places you get a better parking spot (up close) and your own lane going in so there is less waiting in line.Caribbean Soul Man wrote:what do you get with "premier parking?"

I've heard from several sources that the much of the tailgating is going to occur in that area.
On the pass there is no time listed for opening...and calling the venue resulted in a 'Call back closer to the show.' I got the impression that I was not the only Parrothead that has called....lol.
I am just hoping it will help lesson, if not completely prevent, our getting stuck in a traffic line.

Premier passes are definitely still available. I bought one over the weekend for $20 + fees. Interesting that even the parking pass (which is essentially an additional "parking fee" over and above the regular "parking fee" added to all tickets) has more "fees"! Ticketba$tard is one fee-happy company. I wish I could charge them my own "inconvenience fee" to counter that rediculous convenience fee they charge everyone regardless of how they purchase the tickets.
Anyway, I hoping my 20 something bucks will get me in quicker and maybe provide us a less patrolled lot to relax and get mentally prepared for our Party at the End of the World

I think that is going to remain a mystery until the show! I figure at least I won't have to wait in line while folks fork over their cash and wait for change.Sidew13 wrote:But is the parking pass worth the $20
How much is standard parking in Charlotte? Anyone know?

The amphitheater website says the parking fee is added in the ticket price. The premier pass guarantees you a parking spot and hopefully a little more, like closer parking, a special lane to get in. The last time I went to this venue it was Blockbuster Pavillion, so not sure what to expect now that its Verizon.
