Buffett, Booze and Bouncers

Post by spucketts »

I recently noticed that many Buffett songs involve and/or mention adult libations......OK, so it wasn't recently.....and since margaritas and JBs music seem to go together, how much do they police the "No Alcohol" policy in the Tweeter/Hifi Buys parking lots? Atlanta has always been open with no problem but I haven't been to a show there since 2004.

I don't remember the "No Alcohol" policy though. In light of the law suit against Tweeter (was it after a Camden show?), I understand the reasoning, but are they enforcing it? How are they enforcing it? Do you need to use secondary containers? Do they have the right to inspect your cooler? the trunk of your car? search your pockets?

Someone must have attended another show at Lakewood (or other Tweeter venue) like Journey, REO Speedwagon, or one of the country artist and have first hand experience.

I believe they do have that right, since you are on their property. However I am not a lawyer so I am not 100% on that.

I go to a lot of motorcycle swap meets at Lakewood which are held in the buildings that are at the top of the wall behind the lawn section. These buildings, along with the amphitheater and parking areas, belong to the city of Atlanta with the rights and/or spaces leased to the event taking place. The swap meets not only have beer sales but hard liquor sales and the vendors will bring in their own stuff too. So I would guess it is regulated on a case by case basis.

So back to my original question, how hard is Tweeter/Hifi Buys (or the city of Atlanta) being on having a snort or two in the parking areas? If they wanted they could search every car that enters the gate and take anything in an original container. This'll only increase the people trying to use the off-lot parking areas that Lakewood doesn't have control over, lots that are a long walk from the amphitheater.

Didn't anyone go to the Celene Dion concert down there? oops, bad example....
