Lunching w/ Roseate Spoonbills

Post by ToplessRideFL »

I went outside to smell the salt air at lunch time... and there were about 30 Roseate Spoonbills feeding in the marshy area of the bay....At first I thought they were flamingos! I have lived in Florida for over 30 years.... and I NEVER have seen one...much less a whole flock of them.

I looked them up on the net just now and learned that they get their pink color from the crustations they eat...

Just wanted to share my lunchtime view!

I had lunch with Campbell's "Soup at Hand". It got it's lovely greenish tinge from the pond scum that was posing as cream of broccoli.
