My wife (then girlfriend) got a call from what is likely the same guy a couple of years ago. He wanted her to wire $500 and he would deliver two backstage passes. Says he was a promoter and gave a Florida address. I had my doubts, especially with the Western Union bit. I told her something didn't seem right and, fortunately, she let it go. Then I saw postings from people who got stung by the same guy. This guy is way beyond scum. My wife was very ill at the time with severe kidney failure. She has always wanted to go to a Buffett concert, so I posted an ad here. That's how he got my number. In the meantime, I had already found legit tickets for Blossom. We were already spending money on airfare (from Oklahoma) and four nights hotel in Cleveland. We didn't have a lot of spare money, especially with how much she had to pay for medicines. I just think of how devestated she would have been had she spent that money.

Anyway, if someone asks to have the money wired, they are probably not legit. Someone legit would have a physical mailing address and would be one you could verify. Let's just say, don't trust anyone who can't verify something about themselves, like a physical address and a phone number you could look up that matches the address of the individual who called.

I've always wondered about having someone set up a clearinghouse for things like this. Money sent to thrid party, tickets sent to third party, thrid party forwards both and maybe keeps a small ($5) fee or something. I'm sure that would be a hassle, but that's why the brokers are out there.

Anyway, sorry to hear that he got another one, but know very well, you were not alone.

Bowles, sorry about your rotten experience. :x

Thanks for posting, though; it just might save someone else for falling into the same trap.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words from each of you that replied to my post. I've been a TRUE PARROTHEAD, for 17 years, so I know a real parrothead would not do this to other fans. I remember the first show(s) I attended. We left Salem, VA for Raliegh, NC with no tickets and no hotel room. We arrived on Thursday and hoping to see at least one show and planned on sleeping in the car. Before it was over we were able to see all three shows plus a room for one of the nights (Thanks Ladies for the room). We were treated nicely, and became true fans that weekend, because of the veteren parrotheads taking us under their wing. So I know most of Jimmy's fans are good people at heart, and that's probably why my wife fell for the scam. It doesn't bother me so much about the money as much as not being able to let my children experience Jimmy. I know my children are young and probably shouldn't attend, but Jimmy is only young at heart and you never know when someone make decide to leave the stage for good. That is what hurts me the most. But anyway I do want to Thank each of you that posted and concerned for my situation. Your replies makes me realize that most people in the world are good at heart, only a small consensus is scum.

Thanks again!

Bowles - so sorry you got screwed. When in need for extra tickets, just go to the lot parties where the real buffett fans are, and you'll score at face value or less.

I hope your wife is doing ok. Sounds like she has a wonderful loving family to care for her.

bowles96 wrote:I usually do not post on sites but felt I had no other way to vent my anger. I have not been to a Buffett concert in sometime, in fact one of the last concerts I attended was when my wife was 8 months pregant with our first child, don't worry I took her with me! But with work and kids and shcws selling out so quickly we haven't been back. This year though the stars aligned and we could attend the June Charlotte show. Of course I was at work so my wife went to stand in line to buy our tickets. This show was going to be great, because our little parkeets were coming with us. My daughter 7yrs old and the biggest littlest parrothead you have ever seen my 4 YEAR OLD SON! Now my wife is the sweetest person you would ever want to meet, she unfortunately sees no wrong in anyone. After she stood in line for three hours she could only get 2 tickets, two less than we needed to get our kids to their first show. So she posted looking for tickets, and some jerk from Chicago called and offered to sell two tickets that he bought, and because of his snubbing wife she refused to have lawn seats and wanted reserved. All he wanted was to get his money back. She fell for it, hooked line and sinker. He gave her the line of how he was happy to help little parrotheads out, and all this other jazz. She thought he was legit, the tickets would come C.O.D. All she needed to do was go to Western Union deposit the money and give the receipt to the Fed-Ex when the tickets came and the money would be sent to him for tickets. She went for it. Two days later, no tickets, a fake FED-EX tracking number and a disconnect telephone number. So hopefully Mr. Kyle Weed (this is what his ID had on it when he took my kids money at Western Union) I hope you read this looking for your next victim, and I hope you enjoy the money that my wife and I worked hard for. I may not know who you are, or where you are, but GOD does. He knows you, and he watching. Your day will come.
That sucks. I always go by the rule, if you are going to buy tickets (even from the legalized scalpers [the ticket brokers]), to give the credit card. In the event like this, the credit card can cancel the charge and possibly issue you a new card if there has been other fraud after this has happened.

I felt sick when I first read your post. I even forwarded the post onto many PHs and non-PH friends. They were all disgusted by that scum.

On the subject of your keets the only advice I have is BRING THEM, if you can. We have been bringing ours for the last eight years. :D

In our household Jimmy's music is a common thread for us all. We all have our own favorites. We all talk about how we hope he will play this one or that one at the concert. And when he does play one of them we all go crazy! Also, I am very proud of my oldest keet's favorite JB song 'It's My Job'. She became fascinated by it when she was young and today I think has a pretty good grasp on its meaning. And as a parent I will take any help I can get.

Good luck!
