I would guess that it refers to the argument that gay marriage is re-defining marriage, and if you allow gay marriages, what is to stop............and then the suggestions run anywhere from polygamy to some even more outrageous ideas!

Just another example of Big Gov. sticking it's nose where it doesn't belong.

The truth is, in pushing for a definition of marriage to be based on religion, they are the ones who've opened the door for polygamy. If the Christians insist that marriage is a religious institution and they want a constitutional amendment defining it as such, then there is no way the state can't allow polygamy based on religious principles.

But the Christian right is just out to demonize gay people and persecute them, so they'll blame the polygamy issue on gay people, just as the Catholic church is trying to spin the sex abuse crisis into a gay issue, and so on.

Personally, I have no problem with legalized polygamy since it will put a stop to these underage and incestuous marriages many of these renegade Mormon groups are involved in. Once it's legal, the government actually has more jurisdiction over the situation.

Well, the Hindus and Muslims who are practicing polygamy illegally (although they may have perfectly valid polygamous marriages that took place in their countries of origin - it's legal in many parts of India, the Arab world and Africa) are probably not who we're hearing about the most, and they're usually not involved in other criminal activity.

These cultish Mormon shoot-off sects are often guilty of other crimes and are terribly abusive, not just to the women, but to young adolescent males who are perceived to be a threat to the older males in power - it's really very animalistic, actually. Plus, the girls are forced into marriages at obscenely young ages, and are brutalized by these older men. There's incest, child rape, polygamy, probably kidnapping (many of these young women are being held against their will), etc. Illegal gun-ownership and tax evasion are also problems with these people.

Clean it up, bring it out in the open, and you'll get rid of a lot of the abuse and crime. Not all, but a lot.

But what is illegal about the weapons they are owning?

There is/was a sect or cult in Montana ( I think ) called The Endtimers or something like that. Led by a woman (that took it over after her husband died, I think). They own large quantities of weapons and ammunition.
They legally bought them and there is nothing known to be illegal about them.
Many sects/cults whatever you want to call them, do own large numbers of firearms. That does not make anything illegal about owing them.
A person can legally own machineguns or other Class III weaponry, if they choose to and want to pay the stamps, taxes, fees, etc.
