Counterfeit-Actual Ticketmaster tickets

Post by hangoutgang »

I just received a ticketmaster hard ticket I bought off of ebay for the Dallas show and noticed it had a burn mark on it. Does anyone know if this was a way someone checked to see if it was a legit ticket? Is there any other way to make sure a 'hard' ticketmaster ticket is a legit one?

Also, has anyone else ever bought a hard ticketmaster ticket from a scalper/broker and found out it was counterfeit? Thank you!

I would imagine actual ticketmaster tickets would be pretty hard to counterfit. I don't think I've personally ever heard of that issue. Now the self-printed tickets? That would be a different matter.

Like most ebay questions, I would say that as long as the seller has good feedback you've probably got nothing to worry about... If he's a new seller, then you might want to check on it...

I had heard real tix won't catch on fire but fakes will.
The real one will brown as the Ticket companys have an anti
copying agent in the real tix

YES the real ones will burn.... Trust me

Also any Counterfitter trying to pass off fakes will grab the tix and run as soon as you pull out the lighter :pirate:

I received some tickets today from TM and they had what looked like a burn mark - or at least a small round circle where the ticket got very hot -at the bottom in the middle.

I was guessing it was a printing machine malfunction that caused it. :-?

Any idea why the tickets would have come from TM like that?

I've had it happen with other shows from TM....their tickets are printed on some thermal printer.....any extra heat makes a mark. Heck...setting the stub in the sun after the show will eventually turn it very dark.

It says on the ticket not to leave it in the sun. Ours were in the windshield last year while tailgating in Indy, and the top one changed colors. But that doesn't explain why they would come from TM like that?!

Just a problem with the printer most likely.....something that globed a bit of heat on it. Those printers churn out millions of tickets...some break go out of alignment......gotta love technology.

As I said....I've had tickets come directly from Ticketmaster with such spots.....and the ticket was completely valid. Unless there is something else that leads you to believe that there is a problem with the ticket....it just doesn't sound like a problem.

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that my friends purchased several tickets in the parking lot in atlanta a few years ago and did the "burn" trick. Tickets turned black, looked authentic. Went to go inside and they were fake, denied entry. The event code was wrong. Same concert a group of friends purchased 4 fake tickets for $80 (obviously fake--xerox copy, ink was falling off, etc.) used these tickets for my friends to get in and those worked. Go figure. Check the event code.

if you hold the hard tickets up to a bright light the white in it will turn blue. that is the easiest way. its printed on some wierd cardstock.

Not sure about a 'burn mark' ...I do know the tickets are 'heat sensitive'...ie: if you leave them in a hot car in Texas they will turn completely black...that my be the case if there is a black mark on it ..it may be a real ticket that was exposed to some heat source along the way... Id call TM and ask them to check the ID # on the ticket...Good luck!

If you light it on one corner and let it burn all the way down to the ashes, it's a real ticket and you're now screwed.
