Chicago/Huey Lewis Summer Tour

Post by tdparrothead »

Does anybody else think that this is a great combo? I saw Chicago in a fall and really hope to catch them alongside Huey Lewis and the News this Summer. Chicago put on one of the best concerts I've ever seen...next to Jimmy Buffett of course.
"And now you’re here and the search comes to an end... I’ve found my long lost friend."

"In all his deepest dreams the Gypsy flies with sweet Melissa..."

George Strait in June, Kenny Chesney in July, and Jimmy Buffett in August... Looks like a Great Summer!!!

Chicago hasn't done anything worth listening to in more than 30 years. Their early stuff was OK, maybe the first 3 or 4 albums, but after that they became a Top 40 band. I saw them on the Today Show Friday concert a few years ago and they were awful.

I think LIPH doesn't see quite the same "appeal" in Huey that you and I do, SP.

I was talking about Chicago. I kind of like Huey Lewis & The News, but I've never seen them in concert.

I haven't seen Huey live, but I love his music. Chicago is probably my favorite band, it took my a while to get into their later stuff, but after seeing them in concert I'm a fan of their entire catalog... the first 6 albums were masterpieces in my opinion.

I take it from you're from Texas...

Huey and Chicago play 3 Texas shows...

June 23- San Antonio (Verizon Wireless Amphitheater)
June 24- Houston (Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion)
June 25- Dallas (Smirnoff Music Center)

Any other date inquiries?

I'm gonna hopefully catch the Hartford or Boston shows.

I saw Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire last summer. Chicago was terrible compared to Earth Wind and Fire. I would love to see huey Lewis though because it is hip to be square.

Okay let me qualify my answer a little....since it sounds like Chicago may have "lost" a little over the years.... it was nineteen years ago that I saw them.

I've seen both of them twice.

Don't think I could get myself to pay to see them again, not at this point.
If they played Summerfest, and I was there, I'd stop and watch, but don't think I'll be buying a ticket for either band anymore.

I think they're both washed up acts that are touring well beyond their prime. However, I did see a FREE Huey Lewis show back in the mid-80s that wasn't bad but I wouldn't have paid to see it.
