Zeus never wanted a direct relationship with humans, unlike the God of the Juedo/Christian/Muslim Scriptures. The New Testament tells of a God who seeks a direct relationship with humanity. The Greeks seem to view their gods and goddesses as dieties that did not commune with humanity, expect for their own selfish desires.tommcat327 wrote:similar but people werent fanatical in their belief of those. people lived there lives by belief in zeus exactly the same way as they do now with jesus.....and mohammed for that matter.AlbatrossFlyer wrote:i was going to make the comparison to aesop's fables....tommcat327 wrote:i'd rate the bible right there with greek mythology. good stories of fiction intended solely to scare people into behaving a certain way. with just as much proof of being real
Although, there are many tele-evangelists who think differently, I don't see the Bible as a collection stories meant to scare people into submission, but stories of God and his relationship (both in positive and negative contexts) with humanity, from creation to the redemption of humanity by the death and Resurrection of Jesus. But unfortunatly, fear sells, or rather fear makes people reach in their wallets and it also maintains loyalty, not to God, but to a particular church leader without question.

There is a group known as Hellenic Reconstructionists that have do, and seek to recreate, as much as possible in the modern day, the religion of Ancient Greece.tommcat327 wrote: so you believe in Zeus?
