Jerry Jeff Walker at MOTM

Post by a1aara »

Hi all,
Since this is our 15th year of Meeting of the Minds we figured we would do something a little special.
Parrot Heads in Paradise would like to announce the Gypsy Songman himself, Mr. Jerry Jeff Walker will be joining us with his band for a one time show at the Casa Marina Beach Stage on Thursday November 2, 2006 in Key West Florida.
Opening for Jerry Jeff will be Larry Joe Taylor and Keith Sykes. Larry Joe and Keith have written with Jerry Jeff and Keith also penned a few popular Buffett tunes with Jimmy Buffett.
For those of you who don't know, Jerry Jeff Walker introduced Jimmy Buffett to Key West. The story goes, Jerry Jeff and Jimmy packed up Jerry Jeff's old Packard for a quick trip to Key West back in the 70's - Jimmy liked Key West so much, he stayed and the rest is history.
Jerry Jeff Walker is a legend in the Texas music scene making places like Luckenback Texas and Gruene Hall world famous. Jerry Jeff has over 30 records to his credit and has influenced the likes of Jack Ingram, Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keene, Pat Green and some unknown guy named Garth Brooks. He has also had quite an impact on the styles and songs of some of our long time MOTM musicians like Jim Morris, Jim Hoehn, John Frinzi, James White and other musicians from that same Texas music scene like Kelly McGuire and Jerry Diaz.
The more I write the more excited I get!!!
This show is at the Casa Marina and will be open to only those that qualify and register for Meeting of the Minds at _www.phip.com/motm_
(http://www.phip.com/motm) We already have over 1000 people registered and we will stop registration this year at 3500 people. Last year we were sold out way before the September deadline so I recommend you log on to the PHiP web site and register.

Compadres

Sure would be nice if old Goodman (nearly a grandfather) could get a courtesy pass so the old belt buckle could be reunited with JJW.
Friends n neighbors, there's nary a few genuine JB/JJW fans out there who have never been to Key West. It's the magical place where JJW turned JB from Nashville to Margaritaville and then headed to Texas, presumably cause there wasn't room enough in the town for both.

I'm not much for Meetings and some say I'm losing my Mind, but I'd be honored to attend as an ex-officio member of your group. (That's Latin for a free pass).

You'd really make a middle aged man happy (me -not Jerry Jeff or Jimmy)

:-)
I know Jimmy Buffett, Jimmy Buffett is a friend of mine. Son, you're no Jimmy Buffett!
