I agree. I had an experience with someone similar.
In the early-mid 80's I had the unfortunate experience of seeing the temper of a well known folk singer toward his then live in girlfriend (long blonde hair, actress, very pretty, could have been a mermaid 8) ). Then several years later when alegations came out that he beat her and that's why she left; it was no surprise. What did surprise me was that the charges were dropped and he is still running around being a complete A**, acting like he is such an environmentalist, peace loving, be good to your fellow human, animal, tree type person. When in reality he should be in prison for beating up on not just another person but his then significant other.

Wish I could name the bastard here; you may remember the news from back then... :-?

Shortly before the mermaid hooked up with the handsome magazine editor, wasn't it?

We forget how popular he was back in the late 80s...early 90s.... this would have made real headlines then!

I can rest easy knowing.

From personal experience, and anecdotal:

the "a 'he said, she said' situation" is just that. Somehow, I have a feeling that there is more to it than just "Yanni goes nuts and shakes his girlfriend". Until both sides of the story are out there, I'll go with the "there was plenty of stupidity on both sides to go around for everyone involved" and call it good.

did not check out the town; but will say that one story comes to mind re: rarely one-sided...

here in CMH, back in 1999, there was a domestic disturbance call. Officers arrived, talked with both parties, got everything calmed down, then left. Two hours later, they get a call to go back to the same location.

They arrive, the male in the house had been drinking. The woman in the house, had a reputation for a temper, a nasty tongue, and a bad attitude. They get inside and the couple are getting close to physical violence; mostly the female's efforts, the male is attempting to keep her at arm's length rather than take an unwanted/undeserved beating.

One officer pulls the woman into the kitchen, the other pulls the man into the living room and attempts are made to everything calmed down and one person to leave the premises. At this point, the female in the house manages to wrestle/gain control of one officer's sidearm, and begins blazing away.

End result: boyfriend dead, one cop dead, one cop wounded, and woman in jail.

He's basically a dark-haired Fabio wanna-be with limited elevator music piano skills.

But I'll sleep better knowing he's not in jail....
