I am looking to buy a used car, and in looking at several Auto Check reports, it tells you if the car has been in accident and so forth...but that is all it really says. Is there anyway that you can find out via a police report number, more info about the accident that it was involved in, or do you just have to get it looked at by a third party to insure the quality of the car.

Anytime you buy a used car it's a good idea to have it checked out by a mechanic you trust. Especially now, there's a lot of flooded vehicles out there, after Katrina....

Those reports can only tell you so much. The car may never have been in an accident, but it could still have extensive damage...
