Anyone have any speculation on whether Jimmy will do the Today Show this year? I am thinking he will do it in late June, around the time of the Mohegan Sun tour and his Jones Beach show. Afterall, he has a movie out as well as a new CD on the way, so he will want to promote them, no?
Although if the resident Today Show PH, Katie, jumps ship for CBS (I can't even think about that), it won't be as much fun....

The management company that runs Rockefeller Center usually sends a memo with the concert schedule to all tenants warning us about crowds on Friday mornings. We haven't gotten it yet this year and the only concert listed on the Today Show's website is someone named Daniel Powter on April 14.

Fun for whom? Personally, Katie begging for Yellow Album songs is enough to make me ill. If she is going to CBS, maybe the real PH on the Today Show crew, Al Roker, will finally get a chance to ask for real songs.

If I had to guess, I'd say the person who mentioned May 1 to me might be right. It's a Monday, not a Friday, but it's between the Dallas concert and Jazz Fest so the band will already be together and he wouldn't have to gather them from all over the country. Plus, it's around the time Hoot is being released so he'll have something to plug. And with any luck, Katie Couric will already be gone so we won't have to hear Margaritaville or Cheeseburger In Paradise.

The downside of May 1 would be transporting the band and equipment from Dallas to NY, then down to New Orleans. Unless it would be a solo performance of some songs from the soundtrack.

Ok, your point about Katie is well taken, but I like that she is not so serious that she gets into the spirit and wears PH hats, grass skirts, leis, etc. You're right about Al Roker - he knew the words to We Are the People at the 2004 concert.

I think Katie is airheaded enough that they just confuse her with pretty, shiny things long enough to clap the hat on her and send her out..

I don't think there's any chance of that. The Today Show has been doing their Friday concerts since 1996. Jimmy's been on 4 or 5 times and it's always been before a leg of the tour starts or after it's over, not in the middle. I can't see him doing a show in Connecticut Thursday night, the Today Show Friday morning and Jones Beach Saturday night.

Good lord! I get so sick of hearing her ask for Cheeseburger, Margaritaville, and Fins! I'm going to go home now and review the shows I taped to see how many damn times she asked for those...
