Wal-Mart has turned aside a massive letter-writing campaign by the American Family Association. urging the retailer to refuse to stock Brokeback Mountain, being distributed by Universal Home Entertainment. The group, which has successfully campaigned against what it considers to be broadcast indecency launched the campaign last week after ads for the film began being displayed prominently in the retailer's 3,900 stores. In an interview with today's (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times, the AFA's Randy Sharp, accused Wal-Mart of helping to push the "gay agenda" by "trying to help normalize homosexuality in society." He added, "But how many copies are they going to have to sell to [recoup] the losses of customers who they've offended and will no longer shop at Wal-Mart?" But a Wal-Mart spokeswoman replied, ""The fact that we are offering the movie is not an endorsement of the content of the movie or any specific belief. ...We simply offer the latest titles that consumers want."
about time someone told that group of witless f^$&s to go sit and spin. I would love to see the instant replay of the look on Donald Wildemon's face (and on his son's 30 seconds later) when, after getting "called home", the highlight reel of their lives shows that they aren't getting into heaven...

I'm pretty sure they're the same everywhere.
I've yet to see it but evidently someone made a film about Wal Mart culture where people are allowed to camp in their parking lots legally (or at least
were).

walmart is known to allow truckers and RV's to use the parking lot at night. Its a smart move on walmarts part to attract the travel dollars. travelers will park and get their supplies. Same deal in the next town.

A couple weeks ago I was staying at me in-laws up in NH and ran to the local Walmart at 8:00pm for papertowels. I could not even believe the things I saw... it was like a third world country in there

. It was about 15 degrees outside and I saw a guy that weighed about 700 lbs wearing shorts and a t-shirt that appeared to have never found it's way to a washing machine. He was accompanied by his 400lb wife and their 200lb 10 year old and a basket full of Cheeto's

So, it's OK to sell firearms, but not OK to sell academy award winning movies.
Brilliant.

Wal Mart is pretty known in truck-driving circles to be a place where you can park your truck overnight. I've seen a few campers parked at the one near where we used to live a few years ago.

I figure you can't see anything strange in a Buffett Tailgate as long as you've stopped to visit the Wal*Martian parking lot first...

Sheryl Crow wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it, here it goes...
"Watch out sister
Watch out brother
Watch our children as they kill each other
With a gun they bought at Wal-Mart Discount Store"
I may not care much for her music but I must say I do admire her for that one.

My Remington 12 gauge and Baretta 9 mm. are both from Wal Mart.
So is my step-son's 45.
BTW-Stock in Wal Mart today is $49.83 a share. I need to find a good stock broker.

I have good friends that take their summer vacation in their Airstream, and they have parked it at WalMart several times, and it is definitely well known by that community.

The walmarts around me are ALWAYS a good place to go if you want to feel good about yourself and your state in life.
and if you weigh over 300lbs and are wearing a size L tank top without a bra, you should just be shot on the spot, no questions asked. (that was my treat last night

. I will have nightmares for a long time about that one).
