St Kitts, Aruba, or Cancun?
My sister and brother in law gave me Marriott points for my birthday. My husband and I narrowed it down to three places....St. Kitts, Aruba, or Cancun. I would prefer St. Kitts, but we can't seem to get there with frequent flyer miles on the dates we have babysitters. Do we give in and go to ARuba or Cancun or s*** it up and pay the airfare to St. Kitts?

If your heart is set on St. Kitts, then go there. Aruba is a fun island as well. I was there last year and really enjoyed it. Cancun still might not be back to the way it was before Wilma last year. Someone else here might know the situation there.

St Kitts
Hey there Mon!
My wife and I stayed at the Marriott there and then ventured out. Met with some locals who treated us like kings.
It is an amazing island with some incredible people. If you can swing the airfare go to St Kitts!!
We have some great contacts there and I would love to share more with you. PM me and I will be happy to share with you.

Yup. And somehow we were too drunky to make it to Cancun the last time we were there.Lundah wrote:Good point on the Riviera Maya, Mal. If you really wanna see Cancun, it's only a short (and cheap) bus ride from Playa Del Carmen.buffettbride wrote:Hmmm. St. Kitts if I could afford it. Aruba if I couldn't.
Skip Cancun and go to one of the awesome all-inclusives in the Riviera Maya.
Soooo, we just kept drankin' with our Irish buddies!! They were the Booze Cruise in their own right!

My last trip to the area was the first time I actually stayed in Cancun versus PdC. We took the booze cruise, it was a blast! Free drinks on the boat to Isla Mujeres, a big buffet-style dinner on the beach, and fun little music & dance show. Then more drinks on the boat back to Cancun. I think it was only about $35 per person, which I thought was a good deal.
I'm finding myself making a lot of comparisons between the VI and the Riviera Maya. Mexico is WAY cheaper, and just as nice, IMHO. Plus I think that if I'm gonna spend that long on a plane getting somewhere, they should at least speak a different language when I get there (tho the West Indies dialect here almost counts anyway).

The next time we go back we will probably make sure we do the Booze Cruise. It sounded like a total blast and I've heard nothing but fabulous things about it.
Seriously, though, I think we did just as much damage with our Irish friends.
We were gonna try and swing another trip to PdC this year, but it's lookin' like it'll have to wait. I'd like to go back in the springtime (next year) instead of in June like we did last year.

Just avoid the month of March, the whole area is crawling with Spring Breakers. Keep me posted on the plans, we may have to turn that into a phlocking; it's been far too long since I hung out at the Tequila Barrel, and I wanna see what the new Blue Parrot bar looks like (and if it takes less than 20 minutes to get a drink now).

We missed the Blue Parrot when we were there too. It was our honeymoon and we sooo weren't into doing anything that required leaving the resort too much. We passed by it a few times and our friends actually stayed at the Blue Parrot Hotel when they were down for their honeymoon.
I'll definitely keep in touch on what we decide. We're so flighty about vacations anyway!
I just know I wanna go back!!

I know the feeling, it's been 2 years since I was there. Gotta go back to Cancun, there's a little resturaunt called "Mr. Papas", I had one of the best meals of my life there. 2 big, perfectly grilled lobster tails with all the fixin's. My bill for that meal, with 2 beers, was $15.

Bummer... just Googled it to see if they had a website or something, apparently Mr. Papa's is no more.
