. .yes. . there have been changes in the CRB over the years. . .but ones we have grown used to, and accepted. . .

so, rather than than pick those decisions apart . .

think about this . . ? ?

. .wouldn't it be cool to have, say, Fingers appear as a " Special Guest Performer " at one of the shows this year . . ? ?

. .and maybe Amy Lee . . ? ?

. .whether announced, or not . . .I think their appearance would bring a " tumultuous uproar " from the crowd . . . ! ! !

and would be a certain " WOW " to the performance. . .

. .just my thought . .

:D

Good performers on stage with Jimmy is always great. And, as he "promised us" some surprises....

Mixing it up a bit is good for all of us. :D

If Fingers was a surprise guest, it'd be tough to choose between "Coast of Marseilles" and "A Pirate Looks at Forty".... Hell, I'll be greedy.... I want BOTH! :D

Is it just me, or would "Coast of Marseilles" be one helluva good song to close the second encore with? I love "APLA40" as much as anyone, but I'd like to hear it in the initial setlist toward the end of the set and insert "Coast of Marseilles" at the end of the encores. Especially if Fingers is gonna blow the harp.

Who am I kidding? I'll be so damn happy just to be alive and at the concert he could play Skip-to-My-Friggin'-Lou for all I care. :pirate:

Glad I'm not the only one! I phriggin' love that song--I think it's beautiful and I wish he'd utilize it more often.

Side note: I have a feeling that for the people that hear Jimmy Buffett and think "booze, broads, cheeseburgers and islands" and turn their heads, hearing stuff like "Coast of Marseilles" would open them to his music and allow them to realize there's more to him than a foolish good time. That's why when my friends ask me to give them a crash course in all things Buffett I start them with the "Ballads" CD from "BBBB", and generally they are intrigued from that alone. That's just my experience, though.

It is a good one...but you have to know your audience. I turned my co-worker into a fan the the 'Bars' CD (skipping quickly some of the dogs on that one)...she loves the upbeat stuff....Cuban Crime of Passion and Desperation Samba got her attention...now she often tells me to 'turn it up' on a variety of songs! (Inncommunicada, Defyng Gravity, Lone Palm).

. .point taken . .

. .bottom line is . . it IS hard to put together a " this is the TOTAL Jimmy " CD together . . .

it's a matter of taste . .for that particular person . . ! ! . .many like his " Country " side . . many like his " soft " side . .( me) . .many like his " Margaritas, sun and sand " side . .

. .that's why, I guess . .we all have our Jimmy favs . .

I agree. Generally, though, my friends are appreciative of good ballads that demonstrate a range of musical ability. They are all lovers of music and think anyone can do upbeat music, but it takes a talent to do powerful, slow songs. I have to say I agree!

It is critical to know your audience though. As Jimmy says, "whatever blows your skirt up."

Our friend Garratt Wilkin had Fingers perform with him last fall, and they did that song. Brought tears to my eyes to hear Fingers wail away again to one of my favorite songs.
