Gram Parsons DVD Due In July

A new documentary, Fallen Angel, recounting the life of Gram Parsons will be released on DVD on July 11.

Produced by Gandulf Hennig and written by Sid Griffin, the documentary tries to put to rest any myths about Parsons' short life. The film recounts Parsons' life as a child heir to an orange juice fortune to his days as a musical icon with the International Submarine Band, the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers to his fatal overdose of drugs and alcohol.

The DVD includes music and performances from Parsons career as well as interviews with family members and friends. Emmylou Harris, Keith Richards and Peter Buck also appear on the DVD telling personal memories about Parsons.

Special screenings will be held in cities prior to the DVD release.

The dates are:

June 5 Los Angeles, Calif., Laemmle Sunset 5
June 8 San Francisco, Calif., Roxie Film Center
June 10 Nashville, Tenn., Belcourt Theater
June 11 and 14 Chicago, Ill., Gene Siskel Film Center
June 12 Austin, Texas, Alamo Drafthouse
June 13 Portland, Ore., Northwest Film Institute

Additional dates in other cities may be announced later.

Gram has always been a favorite...I will definitely be picking this up....I will make a great companion to one of my all time favorite music DVDs...

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to look in to the DVD. Gram Parsons has surely been missed. 8) 8) Thank goodness there's CD's and DVD's. :D :D

Looks like the release date for Fallen Angel has been pushed up to June 20 rather than July 11.
