Did you hear the sample on mailboat's site? It sounds really tame - almost karaoke like.
I had high hopes for this song

Considering I've never lived north of latitude 30.44north, I can speak
Southernese pretty fluently, but I just think it lacks the "edge" that way...

i usually like his remakes better than the original.. he missed on both.. not liking his version of barefootin either..
but i bet you both will be pretty good live..

perhaps a new candidate for the "your least favorite JB song" threads?

I'm likin' it.
It has it's own style that suits me just fine.
...but I'm not doing comparisons.
I hated it when people compared me to my sister.
While two things can be similar they should not be compared as the same.

I have to say that I agree with the crowd that isn't crazy about this one. I had very high hopes for this one, because I love Zevon's version (and even Adam Sandler's tribute version). However, Jimmy just doesn't seem to have it on this track. It sounds kind of empty, and his singing is slipshod at best.
I think he could've come up with a better effort than what's on the album.
And to the crowd that a few days ago said "Barefootin'" could be the new "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere": where can I get some of the pot you're smoking? I mean, it's a good song but it's not got the pizzaz that it takes for that kind of success.
All-in-all, I think this soundtrack is shaping up to be pretty mediocre inasmuch as having as many hits as misses.

Shoot...I feel damn near Yankee living at 34.28 north now.

I have spent the majority of my life between 18.20 and 32.47 north though.
I hear it as "werewolves a London"...but, it could be 'cause I find myself still laughin' at the "aaaaahhoooooo's"
