I am trying to "find myself" and get into a career that I am passionate about and make a difference. I have always been interested in helping those with challenges and disabilities. My problem is I don't have a college degree and at this point in mylife, can't afford to go back to school financially or timewise (single mom w/young keet and not much of a support system).
Do any of you or do you know anyone who works in this field and can give a gal some tips on where to start? There are so many organizations out there I'm not sure where to start.
Working with those with challenges....

Hey Nicole! Any thoughts on what you might want to do? There are always jobs out there in Rehab facilities, hospitals, schools that do not require a degree - but would put you in an environment where you could make a difference.
If you are interested in hands on care. .there is such a need for CNA's (Certified Nursing Assistants) that you may find a facility that will train you.
A good way to start would be to volunteer. . (I know. . you probably don't have a lot of time!) You may get a feel for what you want to do or meet contacts for potential jobs. Regardless. .you will feel good about it!

Hi Karin! NIce to see you! It's been a while!
Thanks for the input. I'll have to check into the CNA gig. I've contemplated getting into nursing (when I can go back to school). My fear is the long hours. Being a single mom, I'm not sure the shifts they have to work is a viable option.
Again, thanks for the input!
