OK for now, I'll reserve judgement until I hear it in concert. I felt the same way with Piece of Work a couple of years ago, but when I heard in concert, I really liked it (until he overused it way too much last year).

How can you people say "terrible"...? The BAND is kickin ass on this one. I know Jimmy is strained a lil' bit but harmonica and all the band is en fuego!

My LI compradre is a wise man. And as I'm typing this, Warren Zevon's version just came on the radio.

Always listen to a song a minimum of three times before coming to judgement.

I've only heard it once, but my initial reaction is: what the hell was Jimmy thinking?

I support Jimmy and I think he's brilliant, but this song just never gets off the ground. It sounds like he was really tired, really high, and/or really hungover when he recorded this baby. Just not what I was hoping for, since I was really looking forward to this particular track.

I really like the original song (almost as much as I like "Lawyers, Guns and Money", which I think Freddy and the Fishsticks did a FANTASTIC job covering), but if you want an interesting, good version of "Werewolves in London" I suggest giving a listen to Adam Sandler's version from the Zevon tribute album "Enjoy Every Sandwich". (Sidenote: the Wallflower's version of "Lawyers, Guns and Money" on the tribute album is edgy, fun and nicely done.)

listing to it right now on RM!

I would much rather hear any original JB or Mac song than this one. I have not seen the movie and it is on the Hoot sound track. Does anyone know if it ties into the movie at all?

Yes, it ties in (albeit loosely) right after a scene involving dogs. It's not the strongest tie-in of the film ("Barefootin'", "Floridays", and "Good Guys Win" tied in better to me), but it works okay. I still have to reserve judgement on Jimmy's version as I haven't yet heard it all the way through.

Warren Zevon's voice has more of an edge than Jimmys and it gave the song a different feel. But I think it would be a good song for the band to run with. Since the Reefers have been trimmed a bit, I'm hopeing that they'll play with songs a bit more. A lot of tallent back there.

I'd rather hear Wondering Where The Lions Are than Werewolves Of London.

I have listened 8-10 times now to the whole soundtrack.

On WWoL, personally, I don't hear the band "kickin ass"...sure, there is a little harmonica...but nothing extraordinary there either. :-? Maybe in a live version they could let it rip and improve my overall impression.

It still seems very tame...and Jimmy sounds almost timid in the vocals...like it might have been the first pass at the vocal track. :o

Miles mentioned your email to RM tonight around 11pm eastern - did not catch the email contents, but he did mention Irvine or something like that - but Miles thought you were from New Orleans - NOLA, right? Or should that be NOLE? I always thought NOLA meant North Los Angeles.
