When I want to sleep it will keep me up an extra two or three hours; without really giving me any extra energy. Then the next day or so I am so tired I can barely get out of bed. It sucks because a lot of fast food places are now carrying Sprite or water as the only noncaffeine drinks. Even the rootbeer has caffeine. So I feel for you.
When I go to a fast food place, I usually just go to the drive through window and have a bottle of apple juice (or something similar) with me.
So I know what you're saying. It would be nice if these places offered fruit drinks as well. (NOT the carbonated crap-REAL fruit drinks).
BTW-welcome to Buffett News.

I've been on paxil for almost 3 months... feel pretty lifeless 90% of the time. I probably should talk to my doc, but I had a tough beginning of '06, and had 4 different dr appointments some days, and basically, I'm sick of doctors.
I took Paxil for several months. I slept 22 hours a day. It just didn't work for me. Now my boss, she thinks it's great and doesn't have that problem.

I understand about being sick of doctors (I HATE them to be honest...not as people...but the whole a[ppointment thing).....but go back and talk to them. Paxil does effect some people like that.
My mom was on Paxil for AGES. A good 10 years. Although it helped the anxiety, she pretty much hated to leave the house (still does). When she had her cardiac arrest in '97 she stopped taking it. I think she has Xanex now and maybe Klonopin. She's a 64 year old pharmacy. :-?

She's also a very restless sleeper and drinks coffee all day long. I'd say she goes through AT LEAST 2 12-cup pots of coffee each day and 3 packs of Winston Light 100's.

Some of the selective seratonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are "activating" while others are somewhat "sedating". Paxil is one of the sedating or non-activating ones. As there are other options in that drug class, perhaps a different one might suit you better. Of course, drug interactions, etc. need to be considered, but I'd ask your your doctor about other options if the Paxil is making you that worn out.

24 cups of coffee and 3 packs of cigarettes would make a cow nervous! Has her doctor suggested she switch to decaf for at least one pot?!

Yeah. I hope she doesn't wonder why she's a restless sleeper! :o :o

Caffeine is really bad for you ...

Here are some of the well known side effects

nausea
diahrrea
Anxiety
Depression
Headache
Heart palpitations

(there are more) .....

I have caffeine free diet coke 8)
Every day life (ie stress) causes the same side effects, as do nearly any medication you're prescribed

on a side note, my thallium test yesterday says I have no heart problems at all. bad news is, they don't know what's causing my chest pains.

I already have cardiac arrythmia and heart palpitations....that was just genetic

Yeah, um, my Mom doesn't exactly listen to the doctors.

She, um, sorta snuck out of the ICU after she had her cardiac arrest to have a smoke.

2 cups of coffee when I get to work in the morning, sometimes a 3rd cup if I had a particularly late night. I never drink coffee at home and I don't drink soda unless there's alcohol in it. There used to be a place in the shopping concourse under the building where I work that sold chocolate covered coffee beans but I stopped eating them, I was getting really bad headaches.

 I was hoping calling my mom nuts wouldn't offend you. She does OK. My stepdad takes good care of her. It's when he's gone that we (my sisters and I) will probably need intervention.

I'm the lucky one she gets to live with in her old age and senility if my stepdad goes before her.
