BN Feud is Back! This is a special edition and the format has changed dramatically, so all players please read this entire post before playing!!!

But first, here's some player feedback and comments from the first four series.

In BN Feud I,

The key to this game is to be online when the questions are posted. That hasn't happened to me yet!

What if we do one where we are the one's surveyed. The host PM's questions to us and we have to answer them.

In BN Feud II,

Yeah, I'm as shocked as anyone ..... 'specially since I haven't been online when most of the questions were first asked. Just trying to hit the board somewhere.

Man, the last round I did pretty well at least to start off. I haven't been able to catch the timing right to answer one yet.....I can't wait for round 3! You guys are doing great!!!!!!!!!

I have one request, is that we have some sort of daily schedule for when the questions are posted. The last two, I never seemed to get lucky with question timing. If I knew to check around noon and 8, for example, we might have more even scores, as opposed to those who always seem to constantly be on BN....

dang.. now I gotta go back to keeping two BN windows open. One just for the Feud. And could ya not post before 7:00 am MST??

chances are the doofuses that answered these for the survey wouldn't say Mt McKinley though.

Whitney Houston and Diana Ross have soul? The only place they have "sole" is on the bottoms of their shoes. What about Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Jackie Wilson, Sam & Dave, Solomon Burke, even the Righteous Brothers, and countless others? And Bad News Bears didn't make it as a movie about baseball. But I did pick Dolly Parton as someone who speaks with an accent.

and appreciate all you do .... is there any chance however, of a revamped format that does not require "time limit" answers - ie, first answer in .....

All of these comments, and many others, have prompted me to deliver this special edition of BN Feud V. The parotheads have spoken! I still have not figured out though, how I am going to do this and have it concluded by fall, but hey, I guess it's starting on a good day!


Rules and Guidelines for BN Feud V

1. You will be playing the game and being surveyed at the same time. No more complaining about the intelligence of the people being surveyed, show us what ya' got. All survey answers will come from BuffettNews.com Members.

2. This series will have fifty (50) questions. The questions will be posted in groups of five (5). Answers are not to be posted in this thread. Answers can be sumbmitted in the following formats:

• Send your answers via the BuffettNews e-mail function by clicking here. This will go into my e-mail inbox and will be much easier to keep track of responses, especially for this series. Your BN username and reply-to email would appear in the e-mail I recieve.
• Send your answers via Private Message

In the subject field, enter "group #", where "#" would be the group number of questions to which you're responding.

3. Only the top eight (8 ) answers will recieve points. The points a player is awarded will be based on the percentage of an answer. For example, if 23% of players answered with "Jimmy Buffett", and answer of Jimmy Buffett shall be worth 23 points. Percentages will be rounded up or down.

4. One answer per question. Try to be as specific and descriptive as possible in your answer, if you can't use only one word in your answer, you might have to re-think your answer, but it depends on the question. Try to avoid using the word "and", slashes ()(/), commas (,), and perenthesis(()) in your answers. This has made it difficult to judge in the past. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. If it looks like there is more than one (1) answer for a single question, it could be subject to the fool button and thrown out to the port of INDECISION, which may or may not be your problem.

5. A deadline will be imposed for the groups of questions. It will be 36 (thirty-six) hours from the time the group is posted. This gives all BN'ers a time frame of 1 and a half day to check for new questions. I have excepted late answers in the past if I was running late with results, but I've got to keep the game moving or we won't finish it.

6. Yes this prolly will seem to be one big ol' BN Poll!

7. In order for an answer to be elegible for points, it must appear at least 2 times in the survey. In other words, if only one person said a certain answer, it wont be worth any points. Since only the top 8 answers will be on the board, it would be too hard to figure out which answers to give points to when theres 5 or 6 different single answers.

8. If you'd like to contribute answers but do not wish to compete or be on the leader board, send your answers and after the "group #" put "OPT-OUT"

9. After you have sent your answers, please post in this thread telling me that you have submitted your answers. This has never been required in the past. But since I have missed one person's answers already, and another's seemed to get lost in cyberspace, I'm asking that you help verify by simply posting "sent".

It's not going to be easy, but I found out with some of the other rounds that I don't really create a good system until it's time to actually sit down and do it.

Richard...answers sent for group one. But my question is this. How often with the questions be posted? Obviously your schedule takes precedence... but will there be 3 groups a day posted or 10? Or just one?

Also.. I PM'd you as its easiest to do that from work... but what happens if your box gets full?

I actually hadn't thought about how frequently the groups would be posted. At any rate, there is a 48 hour deadline from the time the group is posted. I was thinking at first that a new group would be posted after the deadline for the previous passed. But you do bring up an intersting point. I'll figure something out eventually. I dont know yet how long on average it is going to take make a survey response out of everyone's answers. I won't know until I try it the first couple times, and get a good system going.

As far as the PM inbox, I have cleaned it out, I wouldn't worry about that unless you see an announcement regarding that. During the Fast Money and other rounds where answers were not posted, about 85% of the player's sent by BN e-mail. Which I was happy about since that wont get full, but I know some people would like it to be more private, but steadily only about 15% have sent it to PM. When I did the first "Fast Money" round, I just posted my e-mail adress, and people used whatever e-mail they wanted to, and I still got quite a bit using that method. And most of those had real names in the from field. So I changed the e-mail thing to just go through BN, so it only shows the BN username and a reply to adress. That being said I don't think my BN PM inbox will be a problem. But I'll keep an eye on it though.

Hadn't even done the math, but I figured it was going to be longer. Each series has been longer, and the last one was over 2 weeks.

Plus, I dont think this thread will be quite as active as people can just check in to see if they need to play/be surveyed.
I think it's a good laid-back version for what's going on this time of year.
However as things get going, I'll be able to tell better how fast the groups should be posted. I did this type of result for one of the fast money answers last series, so I think I'll get it down eventually.
