Ebayers and Scalpers getting screwed for once!!!
Hi all. For those of you who haven't been paying attention to ebay lately, it is finally happening. The people, ebayers and scalpers, who have been snatching up all those buffett tickets over the last couple/few years are finally getting their a*s handed to them. I have noticed a considerable amount of tickets on ebay for JB that the "seller" is having a hard time selling where they are making any money... In fact, there are numerous listings on there now where they are literally saying "buy these tickets no matter the cost". Even the pavillion $126 price tickets are selling for about 50% of that. I have a buddy of mine in CA attending the Irvine show Thursday who got shut out of tickets when the went on sale, but was able to buy Orchestra seats on ebay, 2 of them, for $130!!!
I am glad. Glad to see that all those scalpers and ebayers who grabbed all those tickets for the hope of making some serious money, are now losing money big time. I guess that is a result of a few things. Original ticket prices were too high, or who knows, maybe JB is slowing dying out. Not sure, but either way, glad to see this happening. If I would have known this, I would have waited to get my tickets on ebay.
fins up!!

I don't know about you but live but here in the rotten apple. They Are Getting some rather high amounts for tix's, I paid 300 for tix's that were 96 face then add in the shipping and there you are. They Are making money, some might get burned but most are raking it in. The only thing that burn my a@# is how come people as far away as Oklahoma can get tix and I can't even see them on the ticketmaster screen and get skunked.
You have to remember the scalpers go to where the big money is, like the big cities people are more willing to fork over there money Because They Think that It Is Acceptable to Pay That Much for tix, Most likely there the same people who show up a 1/2 hour late and leave early to beat the traffic why just hang out at the lot have something to eat (I bring my own bbq like everyone else) and by the time your finished lounging most of the traffic is gone and you have a quick ride home why rush hone is there a fire
All wanted to is see jimmy in my town, in a concert arena I like.

I've noticed the same thing with tickets. So far I have not seen any GW tickets going for cheap money. All the tickets are going for top dollar (several times face for some).landshack wrote:I don't know about you live but here in the rotten apple they are getting some rather high amounts for tix's, I paid 300 for tix's that were 96 face then add in the shipping and there you are. I agree with you on the lot after the show. I get out to the car and open up the lounge chairs and have a bite to eat and a couple of cold beverages (soda for me, as I'm driving). By the time we are through eating, relaxing, cleaning up our trash and packing up our stuff; the lot is mostly empty and its a fairly easy ride out and to the highway.

I'm trying to watch for Sat GW tix for some phriends and there aren't many on eBay (they don't want to sit on the lawn) Hoping that they will release tickets as it gets closer like they have in Dallas. The scalper sites still seem to have all their most expensive seats available so I think they are running into at least SOME price resistance.
I agree about the lot after the show. We had a few more drinks and some food and had a hassle free exit, since none of us sat together during the show it was a nice time to compare notes too.

The tickets are cheaper because it is a big game. The scalpers really on folks that did not get tickets on the day of the sale to panic when they didnt get a ticket and then pay outrageous prices to buy the ticket. As the concert gets closer the scalpers are then the ones that switch to panic mode. They have bought the tickets and havent been able to unload them so they have to recover any money they can as the show gets closer.
The game also carries on to the scalpers in the parking lot. Ever notice that if you are looking for a ticket in the parking lot scalpers are still selling for above face value but once 7pm rolls around they get dirt cheap?

Brokers
I just heard an interesting fact. Ticketmaster tracks where the tickets sold are shipped to by their zip code. According to that 40% of tickets are sold out of country. Hmmm, I wonder who is buying those, maybe a computer programed to dial the phone number over and over again. When is Ticketmaster going to come up with some sort of rule where tickets may only be purchaced by residents of the state in which the performer is playing or it's nieghboring states? There are enouph concerts around the country so knowone will be left out. That would eliminate freaking brokers in California from getting tickets for Alpine.

Don't Limit to Same/Neighboring States!
Jimmy doesn't come to my state--or anywhere close.
So we fly wherever we can get tix thru Thugmaster. Have pity on those of us who have to add airfare/hotel/car rental costs to the ticket prices!
We need the same access as everyone else. And I don't think that we are the only ones in this situation, guys.

Re: Brokers
ummm... what about those of us who live more than one state away from Alpine? or some other venue... limiting sales to US addresses, and eliminating the PSL "entitlement" programs would go a lot further toward ending the limitation on the pool.Midnight Flyer wrote:While I don't disagree with your attitude toward ticket masterCaptainRRK wrote:I just heard an interesting fact. Well that wouldn't be so good. I haven't been to any shows in my state or neighboring states in quite some time. this is great news for the fans. actually i just scored two springsteen tickets for his asbury park show tomorrow. the policy there is only two tickets per customer and theey are only available at will call. that way no scalpers get them. bravo!

Interesting thread...I was going to post a similar one, titled "Is the Demand for Buffett Tickets Manufactured?"
Re: the Pittsburgh show...like everyone else, sells out in 7 minutes with no tickets to be had.
There are about 200 for sale on ebay...many are not getting bid past reserve price
There are about 400 on stubhub...just sitting there, going down in price
There are about 20 on craigslist, again, not selling
I had two extra, posted on craigslist and here for face, and no bites. Luckily sold them to someone in the office, but this is one year I would not want to be holding extra tickets.
