Paid Sick Days

How many do you get per year? And are they use 'em or lose 'em, or accumulative?

I used to enjoy an occasional sick day when I got paid for them, but now that I don't, I go in to work unless it's serious, or if I want to be considerate to my fellow employees. That is the case today... serious stomach flu :-? .

We get 10/year and can accumulate them up to (I think) 120. I don't do much accumulating though!

I'm sorry you pheel icky today :(
We accrue a few hours a week, based on how many hours are worked. It amounts to about seven paid days a year of sick time. They carry over if they are not used, which is nice since my company does not offer short term disability. :-?

Officially, I get 1 per month. However, nobody really keeps track - so as long as you don't abuse the system, we can pretty take whatever we need.

13 WORKING days per year. (If I take a week off because of illness, I'd only be charged for five days of sick leave because two of the days would be my days off).
We can accumulate as many days as we want-right now I have close to a year's worth of sick leave saved up. (GOTTA LOVE working for the federal government).
The nice thing about it is when I go to retire, if I have over 30 years of federal service (which I will have next month), I can have any unused sick leave credited to my tenure.
Unused vacation days are bought back, but unused sick time is added to my total years of service.

I don't use a sick day unless I'm REALLY sick because it would mean somebody at work would have to stay on duty for another 8 hours or one of the guys on his days off would be called in.
Unfortunately, we have a couple of young punks who don't feel the same way.

We have flex time which means we are allocated a certain number of days of each year to use for personal/vacation/sick as we see fit. I have 25 days I can take off each year in addition to 8 holidays.

If I'm sick, I just call my boss and clients and let them know and change my email/voice mail to show that I'm out of the office.

I don't usually call in sick, but rather work at home so I don't bring nasty stuff into the office, which is another nice perk of my job.

My boss rocks.

Yea, it's alot easier to "be sick" when you're not affecting anyone else's life. I've never had a job where it put someone else on the spot if I called off; I just have more to do the next day!

One lazy a-hole that I "work" with literally RUINED my Easter.
My wife had just taken a roast out of the freezer that we were going to have that night, and THEN, my G.D. telephone rings. When I answered and found it was one of the on duty guys calling, I immediately said "Shawn is sick again, right?" BINGO!
He pulls this crap ALL the time, especially during college football season and during a major holiday. I went in, but I left him a voice mail expressing my feelings.
And I love my boss to death, but this week a couple other officers and myself are going to meet with him and my immediate supervisor and demand this little sh*thead be dealt with.

Man, that su.cks!
Have you ever thought about taking the civil service exam and working for the fedearl government somewhere? Post office, D.N.R., corps of engineers, etc? They're much more generous when it comes to employee's sick leave. (Or, as is the case where I work, TOO generous).

We got 8 hours a month....could accrue as much as we wanted. When I retired, I got paid out for 1000 hours of sick leave and 240 of vac.....hence, the new harley! It was a pretty sweet deal...

We get ten a year. Four sick and six personal(or the other way around, its all the same). They roll over and after we have 120 we cash them in for 80%. However, I like to use them, that way I get 100% for them. Another perk of teaching. Just don't mention pay.

I get 15 per year and they carry over up to 90 days. One of the perks of being a state employee. Also, I have the ability to work from home if needed, so I can often do that rather than taking a sick day. All of this has come in very handy since having the 'keet.

We get 8 and we can't carry them over to the next year. I've gone home early 4 or 5 times in the 7 years I've been here but I've never taken a full sick day.

We get six personal days to use for whatever...appointments, sick days, things that happen.

They do not roll over, but at the end of the year, any that are unused are paid out at standard pay rate.

Could be worse.
