How much do you think Hoot will take in at the boxoffice for the opening weekend?

But you can't take 'keets to MI3.....and lately all there have been are stupid comedies (and I do mean stupid...not just silly) or cartoons. A good bit of light drama may fare well for some variety in the kids market.jonesbeach10 wrote:They're hoping for a modest return given they're going up against MI3. But when was the last time a childrens movie won the top spot at the box office that wasn't made by Disney or Pixar or some other (really) big budget movie maker. And considering that MI3 has had much more publicity and marketing, and that probabaly it is more likely that someone in their teens or 20s will go see MI3 opening weekend than a parent will take their keet(s) and brave the theater opening weekend to see Hoot.Soraya wrote:But you can't take 'keets to MI3.....and lately all there have been are stupid comedies (and I do mean stupid...not just silly) or cartoons. I hope to see some big push just before it comes out.
I wonder if the schools or librarians are talking about it with students?
I have been seeing trailers on TV for HootColdWaterConch wrote:$10-15 M if they are lucky.
Are they marketing the movie? If they are, they need to do a better job.

I don't know---some of the regular channels--ABC, CBS or NBC.ColdWaterConch wrote:What channel.springparrot wrote:I have been seeing trailers on TV for HootColdWaterConch wrote:$10-15 M if they are lucky.

BTW, on the Hollywood Stock Exchange, they have Hoot grossing an expected $26M over the first 4 weeks...so my $10-15M looks pretty high.

My daughter is currently reading Hoot in class. That said, seeing the movie is not on her list of priorities.Dezdmona wrote:They must be counting on Parrotheads, because marketing hasn't been very good for this film...so far.

Our elementary and middle schools certainly know about it. A few teachers are offerening 5 extra 'points' (they get points for good work/behavior and then can spend them for small stuff the PTA buys at the school store) for anyone who sees it.Dezdmona wrote:They must be counting on Parrotheads, because marketing hasn't been very good for this film...so far.
