The current administration has apparently misled (being very generous here) the country in order to further their own neocon/imperialist agenda (refer to the PNAC documents of Wolfowitz, Bolton, Perle, et al) leading to the quite unnecessary deaths of thousands of U.S. service people and untold tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians, and folks continue to defend the current president by poking fun at Clinton and dismissing it all as just "more politics".
That old saw about people getting the government they deserve is only partly true. With regard to the current administration, slightly more than 50% of the voters deserve the present ongoing fiasco - the rest are off the hook (and deserve much better).
