All i know I'm guessing you're about 10- 15 years older than me and I've seen my team win 6 titles to your 1. I know plenty about winning. Remember the Florida Marlins who haven't been around 15 years yet have twice as many titles as your team in our lifetimes....

Your second point is a good one. Torre really makes some interesting decisions during games. He managed that 6th inning like it was the end of the game, righty, lefty, righty, lefty he must have received some advanced weather report that rain was on the way. Is Andy Phillips still on the ML roster?

Yes Phillips is still on the team. Also a good defensive 1st baseman. And it's not like Cairo has made much contact, let alone hit the ball well to make up for it. Would it have been that much worse to put Phillips or even Giambi at first?

The whole Cario playing first seemed awkard from the start.

Yankees have now lost 2/3 of their starting OF. You have to think they will make a trade. Matsui will probably miss the season. Bet they are happy they resigned Bernie now.

Matsui's streak was the longest for the Yankees since Lou Gehrig played in 2,130 straight games from 1925-39, which was the big league record until Cal Ripken of the Baltimore Orioles broke it in 1995.

Streaks are sort of cool, no matter who they are playing for....unless its Bonds.

I had to listen to the first inning on the radio, the Yankees radio station. When Matsui got hurt they were talking about like it was american tragedy, if they had their way today would be a national day of mourning.

Standing don't matter in May, I was pointing out how foolish your "standing 'nuff said" post was yesterday.


So who do the Yankees go after now? Bobby Abrau, Jay Payton?? There is no way they keep Bernie in the OF full time.

I was at a PH Club meeting, and there was 1 Yankees fan in a room full of Sox fans, and it wasn't looking good for all of us! Glad the Sox pulled out another win!

at least it would only be tied.....depending waht Ortiz does......and they probably don't see Papelbon with a tie!!

.....If Cairo had held onto the ball the runner would have been out. If Jeter doesn’t get to the ball both runs would have scored. If the ball had been hit directly at Jeter it's an easy play. If Giambi was at first, Loretta is out. . (Giambi is 6’ 3” )

Should Cairo been at first? He has decent numbers against Wakefield, and if he makes the play – you don’t question Joe. . shoulda, coulda, woulda . .

It was a tough "loss". . With Matsui out for at least 3 months. . well, we have Arod to carry the offense. .
