That is why Derek Jeter is definitely NOT the most overrated player in baseball!!!
A win with the Unit on the mound is a huge success.
Somehow, for the most part of the series, Papi was held in check.
Mo's still got it.
I'm sure tomorrow we'll be hearing how it was a bad call by the umpire.
And NO, Derek Jeter is NOT over-rated.

I think the home plate umpire was erratic the whole game on both sides. The strike zone was either extremely large or very small, the rest of the umpires were fine but they didn't have any affect on the out come of the game though, Terry Francoma being a p*** poor retarded manager that he is butchered the last two games enough, leaving Wakefield in too long last night with a rested bullpen and for reason's I will never understand he stuck with Clement 2 innings too long tonight when it was clear he couldn't throw the ball over the plate.

God I miss the days of Grady Little....and yes I am serious.
As soon as Clement got hit they should've taken him out. The man turns into a basket case after being hit and the innings after prove it.

Francoma hasn't really bungled a game until lately. He gives Wakefield TOO much leeway and then let the lead get away last night when it was CLEAR Clement was in trouble going into the 5th inning. :x

Actually, it seemed to be the runners in scoring position that caused Clement's meltdown... He's know to be a head case about that even w/out a bruised shin.

I am just glad Jeter "saved" his 2000th hit for a home game this weekend... had he gotten it last night and IF the scoreboard at Fenway even mentioned it, the crowd there would undoubtably boo.

What was that guy from the Red Sox thinking not scoring from 3rd on the ball four wild pitch in the 8th inning? They probably would have lost anyway, but he just stood there.

Dunno... :-? maybe the 3rd base coach gave him and earful after Manny ran through his stop sign earlier in the game.

I know the feeling. Sometimes I think there are more Red Sox fans here than there are in Boston.

Another Yanks-Sox series with first place on the line starts tonight. What's new?

If the Sox don't get at least a split with the New York M*A*S*H Units, they should be embarrased and don't deserve first.

Sheffield, Matsui, and Sturtze are out, A-Rod and Giambi getting over the flu, Rivera recovering from back spasms, and most importantly Jeter day-to-day with a bruised hand.

GO YANKEES!!!

How about Sox ownership stepping up and spending more of their money??? Someone holding a gun to their heads not allowing them to spend more money???
I'm so tired of the boo who, poor us, they spend more money than we do crap! You've got a cable network, and marketing deals just like us. You couldn't get a bigger stadium built, not our problem. Stop whining and send a email to boy wonder and tell him to spend a little more of Tommy's money! And the first one of you who says we don't want to buy a championship is the one who is the most full of s***. You'd spend another $100 million more than us if you could...As long as you beat us.

That wasn't my point!!!!.....i was talking about using injuries as a excuse.......money has nothing to do with it...except for what they have in payroll they should have a lot of depth!!

That whole play comes back to the Damon AB, that 2-2 pitch was right down the middle but the Umpire flinched and called it a ball and Damon ended up walking. If that is called correct it would have been a 1-2-3 inning. In the first inning the Strike zone for Mussina was 2 feet wide, for Beckett it was the size of a postage stamp.

and some questionable pitches called for strikes against the Red Sox in the 1st inning!!
