Although the right team won, I'm glad I didn't see that game.
I would've been throwing up blood.
Instead I watched the Cubs/Astros game and had to deal with SMOKE coming out of my ears.
it's hell being me, but nobody else wanted the job

Pauley pitched a GREAT game and then got hung out to dry when he tired. Why does it seem like Francoma has become so reluctant to pull starters when they get into the 7th?
and even worse bring in Seanez with the bases loaded....

There was not any doubt in my mind Seanez would walk in that run...
And there was no doubt in my mind that Arod would strike out.

That's a given, in a close game I want ARod at the plate in a clutch situation.

Great. You can have him for ALL of your close games.
I propose the following trade:
Alex Rodriguez for Manny Ramirez.
I'm not saying I DISLIKE A-Rod-but I have a hard time getting excited when he hits a solo H.R. when his team is either 10 runs ahead or 10 runs behind.
So how about it? A-Rod for Manny?

I proposed that a couple weeks ago. Contracts aside I would make that trade in a second. Arod with 81 games at Fenway....

A-Rod leads the AL in game winning RBI's.

You're sick, young man. SICK!
Again, I DO love A-Rod, but that would be like trading my Mercury Sable for a Harley Davidson 74.

I hear ya.
But I don't think Manny Ramirez KNOWS HOW to strike out with runners in scoring position.

That's an artificial stat that doesn't mean anything. The first run in a 10-0 game is the game winning RBI.

I think they stopped keeping track of GW RBI several years ago.

They did. That "stat" is just TOO mis-leading.
So is the number of saves by a relief pitcher.
And a lot of times, so is a pitcher's won-loss record. To wit: In 1987, Nolan Ryan won 8 games and lost 16 for the Houston Astros.
Or, make that, his TEAM lost those 16 games for him.
In 212 innings pitched, he walked 87 batters while striking out 270 (better than a 3-1 ratio), and had an E.R.A. of 2.75. Opposing batters hit .228 off of him. I think he finished something like second or third in the Cy Young award voting also.

It's like the Tigers last season lead the league in Turning double plays...because there were always men on base. They also lead the league leaving the fewest runners on base because they never had anyone on base.
or when a player leads the league in OF assists, it's because they run on him a lot.

EXACTLY!
The only statistic that REALLY matters is the TEAM'S won/loss record on the last day of the season.
I wish I had a dollar for every time a team went to the World Series without having one pitcher who won 20 games, one batter who hit 30 home runs or batted .300.

I would not trade A-Rod for either Manny or Ortiz. Call me crazy. Manny is an RBI machine. Ortiz is one of the most clutch hitters I have ever seen. Neither Manny or Ortiz can play a lick in the field. A-Rod (lots of errors so far this year) is typically a gold glove quality fielder. Say the trade happened for Ortiz, now you have to play either Giambi or Ortiz at first EVERY day and who would play third? If the trade happened for Manny what happens when the outfield is healthy (Manny, Damon, Sheffield, and Godzilla)? Chances are that Godzilla is done for the year and they won't resign Sheff, but then what do you do to plug the hole at third? Plus do you really want Manny in your clubhouse? I am a huge Yanks fan, not a big A-Rod fan, but feel he is very undervalued due to his immense talent.

Undervalued meaning how he is perceived/portrayed by the media and "fans".
