Cinco d what? I never celebrated it and never will. But I will sit out on my patio and have a couple of beers (domestic) with a nice fire going listening to JB.
The arragance of people who are here illegally to march and protest for something they have no right to is unreal. I watched yesterday as these invaders march past my office by the thousands forcing stores to close, traffic had to be rerouted extra police had to be on duty, additional street cleaners had to come out, all for a bunch of criminals. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not racist, and I have no problems with Mexicans. I just don't like the fact I have god knows how many people living in the house next to me. I believe there are like 20+ Mexicans there (a fact), probably mostly illegal (not a fact). Hell, I'd be bitching if they were black, white or asian. Yesterday was kind of quiet around the house, they were all downtown at the "march" in Indy.

You hit the nail on the head. If someone is here illegally, they are a criminal (illegal - opposite of legal), and instead of treating them as such, we are going to roll the red carpet out for them?

I have NO issues with immigration, providing the fact that if someone wants to move to the country from another country, they do it legally.

The other issue I have. If you move here, have some respect for your new home, and learn to be an American. My mother and her family came to the US from Germany many years ago. They didn't "sneak" into the country, they had to go through the whole process. Better yet, when they came here, they all learned English, and used it regularly. Never did they demand special treatment, nor did they expect the school teachers and schools to have to make adjustments because they had "Germans" in their schools. My grandfather has always proudly displayed the US flag.

Eh, just a little bit of bitching to keep this thread going...

As for May 5th, I'll be sure to celebrate it this year by drinking Jaegermeister.

I agree. Here's a little something that Teddy Roosevelt said on the issue in 1907. Do ya think George W. would have the b**** to say something like this today??

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907

The words are Teddy's, the emphasis mine.
Happy Cinco de Mayo...

Biggest weekend of the year here...always the first weekend in May..

On an island of 10,000 people, with a weekly newspaper....we have between 120,000 and 180,000 people descend on us.

Hmmmmm.....

Maybe I should leave! 8)
Oh how time flies! :(
Parrotdawg and I loved going there!
But we always made sure we went really early or you never got a parking spot, let alone be able to walk the streets to look at the crafts.

Eat some shrimp for us.... :D
