My 87 Jeep Cherokee gets 26.7 mpg with a mix of highway (66%) and city driving (34%). If I include the time spent four wheeling, then it drops substantially. It's got a in line 6 and 5 speed tranny.

I have a newish (1 yr old) Explorer with the big motor (for hauling boat, camper, etc). I think I have a 20 gallon tank, and in the city, I average 200-250 per tank, and the highway is 250-300. Throw a trailer on the truck (boat or camper) and I can routinely get 300-350 highway (yep, more), because I'm driving slower/more responsible/like a grandma.

You would think with so little time left on this earth they'd want to get where they're going sooner...
Can I use that as my defense the next time my wife SCREAMS at me for driving so fast?
I don't drive one, but I thought someone might be interested to know that the average Army tank (sorry, I don't know the 'make and model' info) in the 70's got about 8 gallons to one mile. That is a true fact. I totally remember learning this. Yet another reason why my brain is a scary place.
My love is staying an anchor tied to you with that silver chain.
5-something a gallon? :o what do you put in that inboard...kryptonite?
That's the marina gas prices this year. Premuim at the local station is $3-something. The marina where we keep the boat at is always a couple of bucks more expensive. When I asked, they said it is a "convenience" fee. The other marinas with gas pumps sets their gas prices to the main marina minus 50 cents.
Sometimes I haul gas cans back and forth. The nice thing about doing that, if I save reciepts, I can get the "road tax" portion of it back every year, supposedly, as a tax credit or something like that... I've never really understood why the marina is so much more expensive when it does not have the road tax on that gas...

that's insane. you should move your boat to southeast louisiana! i dont think i've been to a marina where the gasoline was priced more than 15 cents above normal road stations. luckily, i hardly ever use a marina. i just keep and launch the boat at our camp house. 90% of the inshore fishing i do is in that area, so my marina usage is minimal.
