If you liked the old Beach Boys you'll probably like them, but if you're like me and fondly remember the "good old days" they might make you kinda melancholy. If you've followed Brian and his ups and downs, you know how screwed up he was (is?) You can hear the genius in his music, but I remember how he used to be and it makes me sad….
I have most of his solo projects, I was blown away by how much I enjoyed his Christmas album. I love the Live at the Roxxy album also. I agree though that it is kind of sad knowing what Brian went through, but at this point he is all we have left of the Wilson Brothers.

There was just nothing in the world like Carl's voice on those harmonies.

Yeah hearing Carl sing "God Only Knows" is probably # 1 on all of my concert experiences. At least we still have the music....what a bittersweet thread this has become.

What do you think of the Mike Love version of the band? I saw his version once, but after seeing Brian Wilson solo, I will never allow myself to see a "Beach Boys" show again. I`m sorry but the Mike Love version IS NOT the Beach Boys. I am so thankful for Brian's comeback and the fact he is making new music and touring again.

No reason to apologize. Mike Love has proved himself to be nothing but a real jerk when it comes to battling for the Beach Boys name and how he's taken a gigantic dump on fellow founding members. Another sure sign you're not seeing the Beach Boys is if John Stankos is in the band.

I wish I was John Stamos and got to play with the band...how cool of an experience that must have been.

Yeah, which is what John Stamos playing with the "Beach Boys" (I use that term loosely since it refers to the Mike Love version of the band) amounts to. They're also the ones responsible for the atrocity known as "Kokomo".

When I was a kid I used to love "Kokomo," however now that I have wised up it is probably me least favorite Beach Boys songs.

You're kind. I don't even consider it to be a part of the official Beach Boys catalog. I put it up there with "Pina Colada (The Escape Song)" and "Feelings" as among the worst stinkers of all time.

The Beach Boys have had several line ups so I'm not sure how you define "original". I'm just saying no matter the line up that if Stamos was part of it then I don't consider it the Beach Boys.

Nah . . The Beach Boys were the three Wilson brothers, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine..... Accept no imitations!

I agree. Not too fond of how Mike Love has desecrated the name though.

Didn't you KNOW???? Mike Love CREATED the Beach Boys and wrote EVERY song in their catalog. He SINGLE-HANDEDLY created the "sound" of the Beach Boys. Not bad for a white boy who definitely CANNOT dance!
