I have owned the John Prine album "Fair and Square" for awhile now, but I haven't listened to it recently until tonight. I cannot get over how great the songwriting is on the album. What does everybody else think of it.

I don't think it's Prine's best work by any stretch of the imagination but it's still a very remarkable album for someone that's been around for as long as he has.
I also named it as one of my favorite albums of last year.

Even this song?
From "Some Humans Ain't Human":
Have you ever noticed
When you're feeling really good
There's always a pigeon
That'll come shlt on your hood?
Or you're feeling your freedom
And the world's off your back
Some cowboy from Texas
Starts his own war in Iraq

I was just curious, especially given your thoughts about the anti-Bush sentiments Neil Young expresses on his new album.

That's why it's not my favorite song. But, unlike Neil Young, John Prine does LOTS of other songs I DO like.

No problem with that but the sentiment expressed is the same.

I know it's the same, and I when I say I LIKE the song, I don't know if I mean I really LIKE it, or, since it's a great album, I simply tolerate it.
I may sould like a hypocrite, but I think singers should stick to SINGING and leave politics out of it.
But that's just me.

Yes, it is.

That's because WAY more liberals mix their politics with their work than do conservatives.

And where exactly did you get those statistics?

LISTENING to their "songs" and diatribes.
Can you name me ONE song by a conservative who preaches his/her politics? I'm not talking about Toby Keith and people like him who sing of SUPPORTING THE TROOPS, I mean a conservative who throws conservatism into his/her songs.
I didn't think so.

That doesn't seem like a very accurate way of calculating statistics.

I see you answered the question for me before even giving me an opportunity to do so. But yeah, I can name one: Ted Nugent's "RawDogs WarHogs". I can also name others but what does that accomplish? Politics and music have been instrinsically linked by
both sides for a very long time and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

What's your FAVORITE JP album?
My lil' bros favorite therapy is a cooler of beer and his truck driving the dirt roads of Central Oregon listening to JP. Says is works wonders for him.

You asked me to name one song, which I did. As for the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're talking about.
