We had our PH club meeting last night - very small turnout so not a whole lot of postcards signed but will also take them to another phunction on the 21st

We have several peeps bring in "goodies" that the club is going to box up and ship - however, I don't have an inventory of the items but it's prolly 3 or 4 boxes of "stuff" so far

and the info on Buffettfest and request for "stuff" is on the website (have to get them to change the title from Mortaritaville though

) at www.coloradoparrotheadclub.org.

It's almost time to ship

I thought you all might enjoy this neat piece of history that's become a part of this year's BuffettFest (from Crash):

As most of you know, we are well into the planning and logistics of
the second BuffettFest (LSA Anaconda BuffettFest). At this base, you
need to have a military unit sponsor an event or it doesn't come off.
The 332nd Expeditionary Wing of the United States Air Force is our
sponsor this year. Now that, in itself, may not mean a whole lot.
But, in my research on the Wing I discover its forerunner was the
332nd Fighter Group during World War II - home of the Tuskegee
Airmen. If you don't know the story you should. It's truly
inspirational. In all, the Airmen flew nearly 16,000 combat missions -
primarily as bomber escorts. They never lost a single bomber while
recording 251 kills of enemy fighters.

This one humbles me and just gives me chills...what a legacy.

I didn't go through all 16 pages (at this time of typing this). When you said palm trees did you mean actual living palm trees? Or fake ones? Real ones, depending on types and size, can get very very expensive. I'd be interested in pitching in but will not commit based on where I will be for the rest of the late summer and fall (on tour playing music and in a holding pattern based on my proximity to the Gulf Of Mexico and Lake Ponchartrain due to, aha, hurricane season) and what that means is, being a musician in Louisiana, well, unlike several older bands and artists, including Jimmy, I don't see a lot of money rolling in for playing music. Gas, hotels, people puking on tuning pedals etc...

This is something I posted in the 2006 tshirt order thread. for people to see if they would do this or perhaps come up with a better way to do it.
Q&S asked me to post it over here to keep things from ggetting confusing to her under the new t-shirt thread.

( It is already more than hectic enough for her I am sure!!)
So "here tis".

Anyway I had these thoughts... if anyone can think of a better way to do it, please post it.

BTW,... can anyone possibly think of a way send a message with the shirt, to the troop that recieves the shirt ? Maybe just a little post it note or something like that?

I know it sounds improbable and a hellacious and unlikely task.....but just wondering if something like that could somehow be done...... maybe add something a little personal. Maybe ad some envelopes with personal messages inside to be given to each person that gets one of the shirts?
Just everyone that buys a t-shirt for our, troops could hand write something put it in an envelope and CLEARLYMARK IT for a T-shirt recipient? Maybe include an e-mail and snail to be contacted IF the troop decided to write back. Could be a nice little surprise to boot.

Any thoughts or input on that?

Maybe toss in a photo of yourself in some parrothead garb? Nothing has to be fancy, but hey, at least you can share a moment and be there with them, type sort of thing. Yes clearly mark the envelope, if it is a workable idea, so it could be sorted ....or also another idea..

Not taking away from anyone else's idea's or plans, just suggesting to add a separate hand written letter ( I don't need to suggest what to say do I?) and include a photograph, and let them know they are being thought of, to be handed out. Maybe IF there are enough of those letters, at least every troop will get something personal from one of us......
Maybe hand them out upon entry into the BF Event?

This is only an idea to be kicked around and maybe/hopefully be improved upon, if anyone is interested. Maybe with the photo, it might make it more personal to them and to everyone participating.

Just some thoughts........

.....everyone think of a way to make it personal and share it here, will mean a way we can particpate more and to make it more individual to the troops........If it is viable and worakable. Great.

......maybe we could find a way for each of us to "unofficially adopt a troop" and help him or her out as best we can.

...If you have keets, be sure to let them send a message too!

All the best to our troops and to phellow parrotheads and of course to Crash and his coworkers!

I and many others have been on the recieving end of their hardwork and dedication.....It is well past time for some long overdue payback!

why don't both y'all take a big deep breath and either help with the issue at hand, or go bother someone else, somewhere else.

Annoyed has a bit of a point: if you can help, fine. If not, for whatever reason, fine. It is voluntary, and like most good deeds, doing them out of the light of day is what makes them good. Doing them in the spotlight gives them a whole different appearance.

JustDucky also has a point: He'd like to help, but right now with the life of an itinerant musician in the middle of the hurricane bullseye, there is a possibility that making money for the basics of his own life might not be a guarantee, so sending money elsewhere might tighten the belt to life-threatening.

Now.. that said, can we get back to the matter at hand?
