I sent a box to Crash today that had some misc. Party supplies and approx. 75 of the nicer Flower Lei's.

Just to add to the tally. :D

Most I can give right now, but its the least I can give for the troops....

When you're composing a "to any soldier" message, what is an appropriate greeting?
"Dear service man or woman" sounds pretty hokey.
Anything but Dear John or Dear Jane

. . . I know, I know Alison - cut the levity

WOW! Did not catch that deal....but speaking of Target...you know that all their items they don't sell on clearance, are sold to the Goodwill for 5 cents a pound? (depending on the district).

So go in and ask to speak to the HR person. They are in charge of donations. Tell them about Buffettfest and ask if they could donate any "salvaged" items such as flip flops, summer toys, ie water gun, etc. You know that area you first hit as you walk in, "the $1 spot"? Well all that is 75% off and will be pack up and shipped off next week (again depending on where your store is)

EVERYTHING in their stores, if it is not sold at 75%, is donated...might as well be our troops who benefit. :D

Hey guys. One of the things we wanted to accomplish for BuffettFest this year was getting banners and/or signed banners from clubs and other Buffett entities. If you are planning to send one - we would like to get them by August 15 (mailing by August 4). I am going to have them put up in our MWR center to promote the event and begin generating interest with the troops.

It would be great to have a sea of Parrot Head colors all over the place!

Saw that Party City is having 50% off all summer "tropical" stuff...
such as grass skirts for 3.49, and 50 Leis for 4.99 (hint, hint) :D

Went to Target today to see about "donations" - I have to submit a letter in writing giving all the details and a "tax exempt" number. I explained to the "manager" the event and the history and the fact that this isn't an "official" organization so we don't have that number. She suggested doing it anyway. The committee that decides on donations meets every 2 weeks on Mondays but she didn't know the schedule.

So - long story short - gonna make my plea "to whom it may concern" and include the word doc that Alison made up explaining the event and also include the flyer that went out to the troops for Buffettfest 2005. They have ALOT of tropical stuff in there dollar spot sales right now that would be perfect for Anaconda BuffettFest!!!!

Keep your fins crossed :D

Great work!!

That gives me another idea....

PHAW or BahamaBreeze, you wouldn't want to maybe...um...get a corporate (home office) contact from Target and see if they'll maybe grant an "exemption/permission" for BuffettFest for stores across the country, would you?? Then if other BNers walk in to their local store in Anywhere, USA they can get the deal?? The event press release has not yet gone out (planned for August 1) so if they agree to this we'll add them as a formal event sponsor...some good PR for them. And, they could sign and send over a Target banner with greetings to the troops, too. :D

Just a funny thought on this.....

Do we really want to send something over with a BIG BRIGHT RED TARGET logo to Iraq.......:D

Ok, sorry, Just my funny thought. Although that is worth a shot. They just might sign up for that one.
