Unusual Wedding Traditions

Post by Capt.Flock »

I am going to a wedding this weekend and I was curious if there is an unusual wedding traditions that you or someone else you know carry these traditions out. The reason why I am asking is my friends and I have a stupid tradition that we do for any of our friends getting married.
The tradition that my friends and I do is we all buy gag gifts.
We all buy the same wedding present. Then we take them out of the box and the decorate them. Usually the going trend is to put just a bow on them but I like to use tinfoil.
Then put them all together on the gift table.
Items we bought in the past; can openers, irons, toasters, fishing poles (bought Mickey Mouse one), clothes pins with hangers, diapers( the groom was always talking about he was going to get her pregnant on their honeymoon),and toy motorcycles. This weekend‘s gag gift is fish and fish bowls.

a little favourite of mine:

going thru the reception line, and slipping the bride a condom with a wink and a shake of the head when you shake her hand. Best one I have ever heard of was a buddy of mine who did "the slip" to the bride, the bride's mom, and two of her aunts. :D

"a little song, a little dance..
a little seltzer, down your pants"

always makes for an interesting sealing of the vows.

I don't think I'd recommend it as a tradition, but my sisters had a near-brawl over the bouquet..... :o

Or Chuckles the Clown. Not sure who gets the song-writing credit.

my mom makes the garters for all my friends when they get married. a nice keepsake one and a throw away one.

i on the other hand, i have a tradition for the bachelorette party. i always buy a really "naughty" gift, something i know she wouldnt buy for herself... oils, toys, interesting undergarments (if you can call them that), etc. BUT i also buy a "nice" gift.... usually a bra, panty, garter, stocking set for the "going away" outfit.

i keep doing this cause the groom always thanks me the next time i see him...
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

Cool, never realized that may have been the partial inspiration behind their song "Caledonia":

a little song

a little dance

a little seltzer down yer pants

lump o gold the size of yer head

a little bramble in yer bed

happy day in a boat

trade a heffer for a goat

Caledonia where the hell you been?

Dear friend rub my back

'tis no cadence that I lack

rise in humor and or laughter

may a basoon full of camphor

blow yer britches down today

blow yer britches down today

Caledonia where the hell you been?

Step lively with caprice

through the heavy chested spread

May the purple painted theif

dance on the harpsichord instead

let mine eye state it bluntly

no such stuff was in my thoughts

Caledonia where the hell you been?

At my first wedding, all the guys in my wedding party wore rayban wayfarers. She was not amused when she walked down the aisle.
