Need more details. If there is a valid reason for being mad.......well....I'd ask why they don't cancel it (but they might not be able to....we recently switched to only cell phones and I couldn't cancel our landline. When my husband signed up (before I moved down here) it was only in his name)......and go along with it. It doesn't seem like something to fight over....but both Ron and I are pretty laid back about this sort of thing.ragtopW wrote:OK so here's what I want to know, What do you say if your

Of course, those details can change that opinion in a heartbeat.

She handles the administration of her accounts and I handle mine.
The mortgage is a joint account. If you think of a way to cancel that account and keep the house, please let me know

In 20 years I've asked my husband ONE time to make a phone call like that....and it was because I was sooooo angry that I knew only bad words would come out of my mouth....he made the phone call and halfway through it, I made him give me the phone and said the bad words anyway. The next day Circuit City fixed my TV.

In the interest of self-preservation, better start with...
"Sounds like something really bad happened. I'm so sorry. Tell me about it."
Wimpy - yes. Will you live out the day - probably.
Will you still have to make that call? Depends - she may just talk it out of her system and then it's not a big deal anymore.
(And yes, I'm married, just once, 16 yrs. and counting
)
Good luck.

right but I know you.. And Matt well enough that you talk to him aboutbuffettbride wrote:I don't do confrontation so well with service people so if there's an issue, I tell hubby about it and he makes the call. Kinda wussy, but it works. Besides, he can have conversations like that and not use bad words. I tend to get a little name-callish.
it and explain to him what the issue is..
Not just I made the choice.. YOU do it..

I assume you're talking about people wanting to cancel their Direct TV? I used to get that sort of call right much at Time Life. My standard response would be to "bond" with them...."well, gosh, I sure don't want stand between a husband and wife...." or "speaking as a wife, I understand how the other half can be..."...get them on "my" side. I'd say yes, I can certainly cancel the account. "But would you mind to tell me what the reason is, if he/she told you? In case you didn't know, I can put the account on hold for a few months, and provide you with information that talks about "that reason" in the meantime. You can still cancel later if you want." Worked verrry well. I hate to sound conniving, but the better I did at retaining accounts, the better my paycheck was.
I can be very sincere when I try hard enough.

of the same thing, one works for a cell phone co and another at the gym,
and the last one worked for a bank and all say they hear the same story..
and really this was more of a question for the relationshipragtopW wrote:well not really just for me, I know some others that complainphjrsaunt wrote:I assume you're talking about people wanting to cancel their Direct TV? side of me. I have not had a "serious" relationship in a while and I
was more just thinking what I would say to my loved one if faced with
that announcement.

If Mr Top asked me to do it... I would . I may not like it... but I have learned that if it will have no impact on my life a year from now... its not worth arguing about it.ragtopW wrote: and really this was more of a question for the relationship
