Welcome to BN. I'll see if I can summarize the pre and post parties unless TraderRick wants to do that. He's been keeping track of that pretty well.

The Margaritaville Street Party is "official" for the 28th (and the 21st as well)- I'm guessing from 11am-6pm... I'm pretty sure Tommy Rocker and his band will prevail as usual.

The ever-neurotic, hand-wringing MGM management team has yet to announce the Pool Party...but it WILL happen (as sure as there's booze in the blender).. from 3-7 most likely. This time I hope they please serve FOOD around the pool- last year was the first year they didn't and a lot of people were not doing well ...Alcohol + no food= not good!

There's all kinds of activity at Hooters on the 28th as well (pre and post concert)..mostly via the Tropo Travel group who books Parrothead travel gigs... Stars on the Water will prevail there... should be good! Check out that above link to the thread.

Friday (Oct 27) is looking open. We'd usually be at Tommy Rockers for Last Man Standing (which will be on Oct.20 instead) But options abound- it's Vegas Baaabbbyy! We may just end up at Tommy Rockers anyway... good things seem happen at that place! :pirate: :wench:

I almost wish I had that problem, but with coming for the 10/20-10/22 weekend, there's too much to do on that Friday.

I know I could find a few others things to do on a Friday in Vegas. 8) :o

MGM Grand Garden Arena security question: Does anyone know if they use metal detectors at entrance to the arena? I haven't been since 2002 and don't remember.

I really don't want to have to walk my camera back to the hotel between the pool parties and the concert. Then go get it before the post-show events. thanks

From what I remember in '04 they do. It'd be a good idea to walk your camera "home" before heading into the show. What a huge pain.

exactly what I was thinking. that and, just think of the amount of partying I'd miss if I take the time to take it back to the room? I'm not staying at the MGM....maybe that's their plan? Get you to stay at their hotel so you can stow your stuff close to the party :x

Even if you're not staying at the MGM, you can check your camera at their front desk. At least you used to be able to, I left mine there a couple of years ago and picked it up after the show.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

What we've found these last few years is that if you really want to get your camera in the show- it's a 60/40- deal. Depends how diligent or sharp your "security" person is. And if they stop you and are hard-asses about it you can check it in right there at the show entry. We've gotten cameras in just about every time....except once. One time I had my metal tequila container in my carryall along with my wifes camera..when the alarm went off I sheepishly showed then the tequila and they all laughed and said "Ahhh, get in there! ". So go figure....see ya there!

I LOVE Vegas!! :pirate: :wench:
