I'm not in the medical profession, but pretty much the rest of my family is.... the only problem I have with this is that while there may be horror stories in the food service and retail industries, along with the educational system or the government, the healthcare horror stories can be someone's FINAL story. (talk about a run-on sentence!) Have a good weekend.

I also work in the health care field. Sure there are lots of horror stories in health care, but there are in any field you want to look at. I wont support the Michael Moore project, not because I work in health care, but because I think Michael Moore is a flaming idiot! Arent his 15 minutes about over?

While I don't care for Michael Moore's approach, I do give him credit for sparking discussions about a variety of topics, including how big of an A## he is.

As for the medical profession, I think it is in need of serious reform since too many doctors are allowed to keep their malpractice hidden from the publics view. Self regulating groups have a tendency to protect all but the very worst offenders because too many of the individuals figure what goes around comes around and that they too may need protecting in the future.

I also believe we need to raise the burden of proof to prove malpractice and limit the amount above actual costs that lawyers can collect in fees. I've worked with too many lawyers who billed clients for hours of work when the attorney in question didn't do any work. Regretfully there are bad lawyers and bad doctors and bad English teachers and they are the ones that everyone remembers.

I don't have any real horror stories about health care but I do about HMOs.

I disagree. Luckily my mom has worked for a PCP most of my life, and I'm a medical biller. So when one of us needs a doctor, we ask who to go to. I feel so bad for people who just do not know. They are not educated about insurance and most lay people think all doctors are great, which they def are not. We have some here in Baltimore that I wouldn't send my worst enemy to. I think the healthcare industry def needs to be exposed.
THE VA system for one!...UGH!

You really have to be there and watch over your loved one to make sure they are getting the right meds, etc.

I feel for people who have to go into a hospital and have no one there for them....fend for themselves. :(

I'm not talking about individuals that work for the VA. I've met a few caring, dedicated employees of this agency, (but to be fair I've also met more than a couple total lazy jerks dealing with this horrible agency), its the agency in total.

Its mismanaged and there is WAY TO MUCH at the top and nowhere near enough at the bottom where Vets get services.

And it will only get worse with all our newly injuried coming into the system.
