That really baffles the mind. Spondivits is a parrothead haven. They must have had Pedro out putting the sign up.

When you go into this place, Buffett or RM is about all you hear; and I'm not talking Yellow Album stuff.

Depressing, really depressing.

Ummmm, Maybe they ran out of "t"s They tend to get used or lost when you have a sign like that. Either that or lots of food on the bus.

Just be glad it wasn't Lynyrd Skynyrd or Led Zeppelin. They get their names mispelled much more often than Jimmy Buffett. Their fans don't go into nearly the same tizzy when those sort of mistakes (which is what they are) happen either.

Yeah, but Skynyrd and Zeppelin chose difficult names...

Face it, buffet and Buffett are just examples of English being
the difficult conglomeration of languages that it is (especially
the American version) and you just have to pay attention.

Ah, no they didn't, at least not on porpoise. Skynyrd's name was inspired by their high school gym coach Leonard Skinner. The original spelling of the name was Lynard Skynard (which can be seen on their first single). On their first album their name is spelled out phonetically.

Zeppelin were told by a member of The Who (either Keith Moon or John Entwistle) that the following the demise of the Yardbirds that Jimmy Page's new group would "go over like a lead balloon". Drop the "a" from lead, add the German name for "airship" and voila, you have Led Zeppelin.

I only mentioned two examples when I could have cited many more.

I call it being so overly devoted to an artist that one can't see the forest for the trees and I've frankly never understood why so many beak freaks get so bent out of shape over a simple mispelling. Damn, at least they're mentioning his name.

Jah - I dont think people get their "beaks all bent" because of the misspelling.

I see it all as quite humourous with the connection to a buffet and have a good laugh. :D

I don't think your argument holds water here...
Skynyrd/Skynard didn't have to use that name, they chose it, and chose
to spell it those weird ways. I'm acquainted with the coach inspiration,
having briefly attended that same high school at about the same time.
Coach Skinner went on to sell real estate...

Any time artists choose to use misspellings, they can expect the same
from others. And yeah, we're kind of touchy about it, but it is a real name
after all, not an invention like "Def Leppard" or "Eminem"...
Of course they probably don't care, as long as people remember to buy
their stuff. But, out of respect, it's polite to try to spell someone's name
correctly.

By the same token, you would think writers and fans would at least attempt to spell the names of artists such as Skynyrd and Zeppelin correctly but that isn't always the case. Same thing with Buffett.

After all these years, and after all the misspellings, who really gives a crap...Not me.

These days you are lucky to find people that can spell basic words correctly, such is the illiteracy issue - I think that people get it close is kinda good enough ......

And to have a difficult name as a band name, you have to expect people will not spell it correctly - it is the same as people that have children and make up their own spelling of the child's name - need to expect that people will spell it how they think.

Eg Cody can be Kody, Kodee, Codee ......
