I would not call those great seats. $126 a ticket, for the same view you pretty much get in the lawn.

Maybe, but at least you'll be able to hear. Not to mention won't be looking through steel girders.

Cinci Pre-party

Post by StrandedInCinci »

Good seats or not, make sure you check out the pre-party from noon to 6pm next door at Coney Island. Bands, Bars and clean Bathrooms. . . what more does a Parrothead need?

I just checked on tickets for Cincy on Ticketmaster for the heck of it and pulled up section 200 Row M!!!! That is front and center of the pavillion. I am in Los Angeles so they wouldn't do me any good but I think we know why JB does not do multiple shows there anymore....other cities just simply sell a helluva lot better.

Actually, Cincinnati set a record last year in selling out in less than ten minutes. This is, after al, the town where the term Parrot-Head was coined in 1985.
This year there were other issues. Ticketmaster overlaid the venue map with the wrong venue and issued hundreds of tickets for seats that ddn't exist. When they figured it out, they simply sent everyone lawn seats, effectively closing the lawn to anyone who really wanted the lawn. It is only now that the messed up seats are making there way back for sale, so there are huge opportunities for anyone who wants great seats.

just pulled up 13th row dead center (g) sec 200, wow that would be pretty awesome, I guess it lends some credence to waiting untill all the extras get released.

I pulled up a pair in 200 Row G and another pair in 200 Row F. This really blows for the people who got the phantom seats on the on-sale date.

How could we possibly not know that...I think every person who has ever driven through Cincy manages to mention that...lol

Say what you will, it isn't an accident there are seats to be had right up to show time. I assure you I have checked in past years.

The reason there were so many seats available has nothing to do with Cincy, or any other town, selling better than another. Right now there are tickets available for Alpine Valley, which up until today was sold out too. Each venue is different, but sometimes the promotors turn in their allocated tickets (they get cash in return), VIP members that didn't purchase tickets (but seats are allocated to them up until the day of the show), and very often they start setting the stage and can determine whether additional seats may be sold (generally these are on the far sides where site lines cannot be determined until the stage has been set up). I have no reason to like or dislike Cincy (never been there), but from the hundreds of parrotheads I know, it would seem that Cincy is probably the BEST venue for a Buffett concert (Alpine Valley and Great Woods would be close seconds). As for selling out, Jones Beach (New York), Nissan (Bristow-Washington DC), and Tinley Park (Chicago) are near major metro areas, so no surprise there. It's also very hard to get tickets for Atlanta and Dallas. I tried for tickets to the Dallas show the minute they went on sale and was skunked. About a week before the show, however, I got two seats about 20 rows from the stage. Just check in with TM once in awhile and you may be surprised at how often pairs of tickets pop up for no apparent reason.
