There was not a band, at least not 2 years ago...there will be this year though!!!! www.southofdisorderband.com (It says TBD, but I think it is almost confirmed it will be at the HI)....will talk to Steve again to confirm...or Steve, if you are around, fill us in!Tiki Bar wrote:Nope - not that I know of. It's just a regular old Holiday Inn parking lot right by the venue, except it's also a convention center, so it's a pretty big parking lot! People who stay there probably start setting up much earlier than noon - canopies, grills, tiki bars - the whole shot. I think I arrived noonish 2 years ago, and there were quite a few groups of people tailgating. There wasn't a band, or if there was, I never saw it.PalmTreeGal wrote:Is there an admission fee for the Holiday Inn party? Is there anyplace we can see details? So is there tailgating going on or is everyone doing their own thing before the show? I'm so confused (which doesn't take much).
And we will hopefully have a cell list so we can touch base with LonePalm1 and anyone else going direct to the parking lot, and rondezvous somewhere in there. If a spot and time can be predetermined, that will work too!![]()
But I'm just a participant, so take my words with a grain of salt and a lime!(and tequila should you so desire!)

Turn the party dial up a notch. This will really feel like a phamily reunion especially because we met so many fine pholks at the HI before the show and then tailgating at the lot. Can't wait!finsupnorth wrote:Ok, we were going to come as surprise guests, but I am really bad at secrets, especially when I am excited!!! and I would hate to miss seeing any of you because we weren't expected....
So.... BoozeInTheBlender, DrinkinOnAFakeID, Coconut Bra, and Finsupnorth will be there!!!
We are staying at the Motel 6 in Joliet.
Our seats are sec 205 AAA, not sure where yet....
The South of Disorder Band is playing a tailgate party in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on Saturday morning sometime. I think they may be running shuttles from the hotel to the concert as well....
We are not sure what we are doing Friday yet, but we should be getting in around 5ish on Friday...
WOOO-HOOO!!!!!

Steve is good for em if you want me to hook you up...or anyone for that matter..Caribe Steve wrote:Our club (Chicago Parrothead Club) and the South of Disorder Band is finalizing details this week and we will post on the webpages of both CPHC and SOD. I will also get details out once I have it in front of me.
Also, Jolena - I have 2 extra lawn tics if anyone is in need, back channel me. Cover my costs.
Phins up pholks! 3 more weeks!

so do we tailgate at the holiday inn? Or are we just meeting at the holiday inn parking lot then caravaning over to tinley to set up camp over there? I'm sooooo confused......Tiki Bar wrote:Nope - not that I know of. when i went 3 years ago, we tailgating a little at the holiday inn lot before hand. we had gotten the cell number of one of the guys working security at tinley and had gotten in touch with him every half hour to bother him to find out if they had opened the parking lot yet. and when he gave us the ok we headed over to the lot there....PalmTreeGal wrote:so do we tailgate at the holiday inn? Two years ago, a bunch of people set up and tailgated at the Holiday Inn in the morning and early afternoon... then packed up, drove the mile or so to the venue, unpacked, and set up again, albeit in the rain for a couple hours!PalmTreeGal wrote:so do we tailgate at the holiday inn? That is interesting! Thanks for sharing the article! This grabbed my attention too:jiggs(2) wrote:in doing some addtional research, I came across this article that I thought was pretty good...its talking about the new owners of the World

beer vendors on the law and in the stands will be an interesting twist
The claim each deck will hold 35 people...I can see people hanging out there...those flower beds were huge beside/behind sections 101 and 105 so they should be a good spot...Tiki Bar wrote:
Although for me, once I'm inside, I'm by a seat with all eyes on the stage... I just curious what the bars look like... will people be there comingling at the bar during the show???I couldn't do it!
do you know what time they opened the lots for the show?ejr wrote:I was out there about a month ago for the Springsteen show, and I did see the bar area they talk about (though for some reason I didn't pay a lot of attention to it). .
What about the "beer man - who needs cold beer"? I'd find that very annoying at a concert!ejr wrote:I was out there about a month ago for the Springsteen show, and I did see the bar area they talk about (though for some reason I didn't pay a lot of attention to it). Before that concert, we got an email telling us some of the rules, including what you could bring in---first concert there where I could bring in my own bottle of water (though I am sure that will not apply to Buffett) But I would expect them to beb communicating with ticketholders as the concert approaches.

I'll be sure to study them, but I'm counting on her superior navigating skills I've heard so much about to get us where we're going! (especially for those long jaunts that are 1 mile or less!) The area is just as foreign to me as it is to her!![]()

No, though their email (which I no longer have) probably said. But Bruce was an earlier, weekday, much smaller concert. I would expect we would get updates as it gets closer. and certainly nobody coming through the aisles selling beer while Bruce was singing.jiggs(2) wrote:do you know what time they opened the lots for the show?ejr wrote:I was out there about a month ago for the Springsteen show, and I did see the bar area they talk about (though for some reason I didn't pay a lot of attention to it). .
