Was Alpine less than spectacular?
Yes, yes, yes, it was great seeing Jimmy. BUT, was it strange to anyone else that he made absolutly no mention of the band taking thier intermission? All of a sudden the music stopped and there was knowone on stage.
Also, due to the fact the the speakers were horrible in the lawn, I left at intermission and listened to it in Sirius in the parking lot. Don't get me wrong Jimmy and the CRB sounded fantastic on the radio, it was just very tin-ey and was literaly hurting my ears.
Finally, The encore. I know we are not technicaly "owed" an encore. But as I'm listening to it on the Siruis the last song ended and Savannah Jane comes on the radio and says "Ok that wraps up Alpine valley and in a couple minutes there will probably be another few songs". Well as she was just about to stop that sentance the music started again. The band never left the stage like they usually do. It was like it was just part of the concert.
Don't get me wrong, the music was good just as long as it wasn't blowing your ears out. But it just seemed like Jimmy and the CRB couldn't wait to get outta there.
Am I the only one that noticed these things or does anyone have any insight on these things??
Oh yea, can we all PLEASEEEE get a petition together to keep the drunk moronic hippies outta the lawn! I can't take it anymore.

I listened up until intermission and I believe he mentioned that they were going on intermission... I could be wrong though. BEG is a strang song to end on but at least he's still playing..

I agree, That was a little odd to do it at the end of the show. I know he can pick his set list to whatever he want's(Apparently he knows what he's doing:) But I always like to here a song like Someday I Will or hell even Death Of An Unpopular Poet as the last song. That's just me though, I like a slower song.

Funny thing...the encores.
He played all three straight (except for band intros), and ended on BEG. Usually, it's two songs, leave, then one last song. I was convinced that he'd be back out for one more, but the crowd just got quiet and started leaving.
It almost seemed like there was one more song planned, but they didn't do it because we didn't cheer loud enough for the last encore....

Agreed, Captain, I was actually hoping for Stories We Could Tell, that would have been a fitting end to the Alpine Show. As soon as BEG ended, the light came on, so they must have planned that way. Strange ending. Still a great time as always. Thank You, Jimmy and Alpine!

If he did I apologize, maybe I just didn't hear it, I was dealing with drunken asses p*** all over the place, so maybe I did miss it. But, you're absolutly right. He's still playing so it can never be that bad.MA_Buffett_Fan23 wrote:I listened up until intermission and I believe he mentioned that they were going on intermission... I could be wrong though. My thoughts on alpine
This was my fourth trip to alpine and it was very good as always. The weather was dry but very cold. The concert was ok, My biggest problem was the sound it seemed a bit heavy on the bass. And i was real disappointed that there was no encore. None the less i had a great time and i'll see everyone there next time.

He also ended with Brown Eyed Girl at the Pittsburgh show....after he played it, everyone thought he was going to come back on for another encore...but I guess the time limit thing had something to do with it in both Pittsburgh and Alpine because I know he probally had one more song planned but was worried he wouldn't be able to sing it in the time limit?
Haha just a thought?

Did you happen to read the rest of the posts?? If you had you'd of seen that there is no bitching going on, only questions. Yes I did b**** about the sound but I also said that it's not Jimmys fault. So try to read through before saying that.Gulfbreeze wrote:Y'all beacth if he doesn't play at Alpine...y'all nit pick when he does...![]()

He DID say they were taking a break, and NO, you're NOT a jacka$$.CaptainRRK wrote:Alright, I'm a man of my word, I'm a deaf jackass. Sorry about that.
At the end of the song "One Particular Harbour" (which is USUALLY the last song of the first set), he did say they'd be taking a short break, but as loud as it was there, it was pretty hard to hear. I guess I just ANTICIPATED hearing it-but he did.
As for the no "Final Encore", the section I was sitting in (201), everybody stayed and yelled for him to come back out-nobody left until the stage people came out and started taking things down.
The fact that Jimmy left his guitar on the stage did lead me to believe he'd be back out.
Oh well, no complaints here. It was a great concert, and nice set list.

I have agree with you all, it was a good concert but strange concert at the same time. I really never like going to Alpine, the place is sort of a pit. I don't think they've made any upgrades on the place in a real long time, if ever. I will say the song selection was good, and that crowd knew every word to every song he played, which for me makes it a good time. I did notice that Jimmy didn't talk to much between songs, which is good and bad, what with less talk more songs, but he just didn't personalize the event. I guess after playing Wrigley Field, Alpne just doesn't cut it. Over all I was with good friends, and Jimmy, and that's a great Saturday night.

I think I've just been to too many shows. While I'm sure the fact that it was cold put a damper on things, I wasn't impressed at all by the tailgating, and the number of people throwing sh*t (washers or cornhole) annoyed me pretty quickly (nothing like getting hit with the golfball thing to dampen your buzz!). All in all, not a bad Buffett show, but entirely too many drunken idiots and not enough PHs.
