Are people getting too out of control at Buffett concerts?

After reading many posts about the crowds at the concerts, and Dallas being my 59th Buffett concert, i tend to realize the crowds are getting WAY out of control. I remember when it was alot of fun going to Buffett concerts without the worry of having "out of control" people doing all kinds of obnoxious things. Its more like Animal House instead of a Buffett concert. I have seen it all and i'm not sure if i will make it to # 60.

People need to control their alcohol consumption better. A guy sitting behind me at the Dallas show kept falling out of his chair and finially cracked his head on the cement. Ambulances taking people away in Atlanta 2 hrs before the concert even starts. etc. etc.

I would say the MAJORITY of the people out there are there for a good time and experience, and are alot of phun to hang out with. With that said there are always people at every concert (not just buffett) that get a bit carried away. They are in every crowd, event, and club. What can you do? Bring your own friends to the places you go, that way you at least know what to expect. We took prolly 40-50 people to Cinci, 10-12 to Dallas, and quite a bit of BN to alpine.

The first year I noticed it getting bad was when the Dead stopped touring. Too many morons that thought the dead were all about getting wasted started coming to JB shows. Now its getting worse with people of all ages (not just frat boys) thinking its all about getting too hammered and out of control. Its ok to get lit, but obnoxious is different.
Unfortunately it comes with the territory of the lifestyle that JB sells, you are going to get those that just dont get it. My solution is to let them know they are dumba**es, if not, they will never know

The obnoxious idiots have ALWAYS been at Jimmy Buffett concerts, just not as many as there have been lately, but increasing in numbers every year.
As other people have stated, I suppose it IS to be expected, however, that may not be any consolation to the poor soul who's getting puked on from behind. He/she has to go through pure hell to even GET a ticket, then spends his/her money for the ticket, plus the RIDICULOUS T.M. charges, gets there, hopes to see a great show, and ends up spending more time trying to evade the morons than actually enjoying the concert.

I didn't go to too many Greatful Dead concerts when they were the Greatful Dead, but the ones I DID go to had SOME idiots like the ones described above, but nowhere near as what we've had to deal with in recent years at the Buffett concerts.
And NO, it's not JUST the frat-brat boys. They come in ALL demographics.
At this Alpine concert, there was a young couple in their early 20's in our group who'd been to about 15 Buffett concerts previously, and THEY'RE two of the nicest, most well behaved, and polite people I've ever been with at ANY concert. They have their beer, rum, and whatever else, but yet they CONTROL themselves.
Yet, at every concert without exception, I see just as many, if not MORE people that are in MY age group that act like the biggest bunch of a-holes around.
Sad! (Not to mention very aggravating).

FORTUNATELY, the ones who can't (or won't) control themselves are in the minority.

I can relate. Yes, there were a lot of people who were quite inebriated. One of which was passed out and shirtless in front of the gate wallowing in the mud. Even in my prime, I was never that bad. The worst of it was when we were waiting for the rain to stop and some guy walking through opens the cooler we were standing around and gets a beer out. He started walking away with it. When I finally realized what he just did, I ran him down and told him "You could've just asked." He tossed it back to me unopened. I was amazed by this.

Even with that, I simply chose to ignore them. I met many people and really enjoyed them. The good fun people outnumbered the obnoxious drunks by a large margin. Unless they are part of my crowd, I refuse to have a bad time by worrying about the people who are passed out drunk.

At best they are darned amusing to watch

I think Saturday might have been #30 for me, I have no proof and little or no memory from the 70's, however things have changed.

I never had a problem anywhere until the 1999 show. You would think in the 8th row you would be with a slightly higher class of peeps. Instead, right during Pencil Thin, I get a warm feeling down the back of my right leg and turn around to find frat boy peeing on me.

We also witnessed three fights in the lot that year, which we had never, ever seen before. I agree with Garry, it is not just the kids, but most of what I have been troubled by was younger people. Last year it was some muscle head walking by people and saying "What the f#ck you lookin' at? you want some of this?, you think you're better than me 'cause you dress like some kind of parrotfag"

One thing about Alpine: I would love to see a head count for the lot during the show. There had to be many, many more in the lot, than the 36,000+ seats/lawn capacity. I saw my first show there in 75 or 76. BTO, Steve Miller, I forget. But why have they not gotten any better with the washroom and traffic problems

I have been to over 50 shows and
was at Alpine on Saturday, while still a fun time, I saw way too many people barfing and passed out, p*** on the lawn, etc.
One girl next to us was blowing chow in empty beer glasses.
Her friend was shuttling the glass to the trash can when she was blasted with a beach ball, needless to say the puke went flying all over people, it was a sad sight.
It is the last time I will go to a show with lawn seat tickets.

There is no magic spell over the pav. seats. We had a 20-ish bimbo ho-bag, b**** standing on her chair dancing. When we asked her to move she said "F*ck you old man" She was nicer to the security guard. And I did at one point hear the sound of lunch involuntarily leaving someone, followed by the wonderful aroma, but did not actually witness it

This statement is waaaay too generalized for me... of course, no one knows what a "true parrothead" even is, but there are probably as many on the lawn as there are in the pavilion. The added $$ just puts you in seats... if you're lucky, they are seats next to cool and friendly people, but that isn't always the case either. But the same could be said for the lawn as well... I've been by the annoying ones a time or two, but fortunately I've been by cool and friendly ones on the lawn as well.
