I don't supose the facial features make much difference, huh?

Didn't they have the #1 album in the nation last week or so? I'd hardly call that "tanked."

You never can tell about these things, but somehow I suspect that the Dixie Chicks will still be singing in bars when Ann Coulter is wearing Depends and Rush Limbaugh is panhandling on street corners, trying to raise enough dough for his next fix.
I'm not positive I know who Ann Coulter is...and I've never listened to Rush Limbaugh, he doesn't have a show on TV anymore, I don't think...

you don't think they're career is tanked? ..good drugs, (or flashbacks) will do that to you, I've been told...

#1 Country with virtually no airplay and #1 pop with limited airplay, other than that, he is correct, right in the sh*tter

So in other words, they are selling well, eh? And seemingly making money?

I know that they had to refocus their concerts a bit but I've seen that happen to plenty of other acts. Look at many of the 80's bands -- they cannot fill Wembley Stadium these days so they have to be content with downsizing their mansions to something, uh ... well, bigger than what most of us own

You don't hear much about Peter Frampton these days but I have friends in Cincinnati who tell me that they hang with him (why the hell he moved to Cinci I'll never know) and that he's doing pretty well. Quite well. If the Chicks hang on to their $$$ they will do just fine too, despite the wet dreams of those cranks that hate America (just had to work that one in there) and who hate the patriotic Dixie Chicks.

the patriotic Dixie Chicks.

surely, you jest....

I don't think they are going to get airplay as they will need to sustain their career, certainly not out of Nashville

as all Parrotheads are well aware..careers, and very excellent ones, can survive without Nashville...

hmmm...I don't think I'd compare their ability to maintain any career as our own Buffett has

not getting airplay is the #1 killer of a career, unless...as I said, you can garner a following as our own Buffett has...

they only seem to dig themselves a little deeper every time she, or they, continue to insult a lot of citizens in this country (country music fans, for one... which I'm not..) I'd imagine not too many in the Armed Services are fans now, either...

time will tell....

Personally, I may never open it, but I think I'll buy it. If for no other reason: Part of why my Dad was in France in 1944; got shot in the hip; suffered with pain for the next 62 years; was so that people-anybody, no matter how stupid, unpopular or god forbid contrary to the propaganda being expound by what-ever the current regime/political climate in Washington may be, can say what ever the h#ll they feel like saying.

Whether or not I believe what they have to say, as long as I have a breath, they will have my backing to say it

For our enemies, yes .... for our citizens, NOT!
But history shows that thousands of citizens have become our enemies. I don't think I need to name any names, since they are constantly in the news.
you mean like the German-Americans in WW1 and the Japanese-Americans in WW2? They were American citizens, but in the wild-eyed fervor to show who was the most patriotic, there was a massive rush to curtail their civil and constitutional rights...

If I am reading the bold-faced section correctly, you figure that silencing dissent is ok because at any moment, a massive uprising by members of the American population may occur. Can't trust anyone, everyone is suspicious 7/24/365? Let me guess tho.. you are "ok" because you don't harbour thoughts like that, it's just "other people"?
Or maybe it is Bendict Arnold, the Rosenberg's, John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan the list can go on and on.

Our history is rife with traitors, sobateurs and assassins, just as every other country. When I read the first quote these were the people I immediately thought of. Not the simpletons like Maines that spout off at the mouth screaming free speech and then cry and whine about censorship when their critics roast them by using their own free speech.
Arnold was never a US Citizen; Booth and Oswald I will give you (tho Oswald had revoked his US citizenship once before); Sirhan Sirhan I don't know whether he was a full citizen or student on a visa (my memory is a bit hazy on the details of this one, and it isn't important enough to me today to spend the time searching it out). Hardly the thousands claimed to be the justification for putting a boot up the a$$ of anyone who disagrees with the Administration and its policies (no matter which party is in control).
I never said citizen, you did. I said that our hsitory is rife with traitors, sabateurs and assasins. If you are going to counter an argument, make sure that you read and understand the orginal statement.

Those are the ones I listed off the top o fmy head, as I knew their names. There was the navy petty officer in the 80's who sold the communications equipment and code books to the Russians. The marine in this gulf war who threw a grenade in the tent of his CO shall I go on. You attempted to link a statement to the interment of the Japanese in WWII and the persecution of Germans in WWI where there was little to make that link. I pointed that out with an obvious alter scenario.

I am not, nor was I ever respondign to the song, simply pointing out your flawed logic.

Your picture didn't come through.

And you'd better hurry because I am looking through my collection for that photo of Limbaugh nekkid and in bed with Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly, and it ain't Coulter that the two guys are lookin' at, if'n you get my drift.

It ain't purdy, and when you see it you may need to go into therapy

"don't cater to what people expect and want in order to just make a dollar" and then they sell themselves out...essentially selling sex )AND ON TOP OF IT ALL its not even their real bodies) in order for THEM to make a dollar....

Out of curiosity -- and this isn't a flame, those are over in the thread about the NRA right now (a joke!) -- how "natural" does on have to be to satisfy your "speak the truth" mantra?

Avoid using toothpaste?

Are you offended when gals shave their armpits?

Are you offended when gals dye their hair?

Literally, this sort of mindset could go on and on and on.

So, arguably, someone airbrushed the photo. There have been rumors for decades that a lot of skin magazine photos were airbrushed.

As far as the magazine cover goes, personally, I cannot get very excited one way or the other.

As far as their oppostion to the Bush administration, well ... I frankly think they took a courageous stand. Rightwingers are just dying to see them wither on the vine and so far it's not happening. Eventually it will -- you cannot go very far up when you are already #1 -- but they sure appear to have stuck to their guns with this issue.

There are phonies and media-savvy people on both sides of the political spectrum. The Dixie Chicks certainly seem to be savvy, but I don't exactly see them saying anything except what comes from their hearts. And, frankly, they are saying what a lot of other people are afraid to say.
