they were consuming humans at an alarming rate not too long ago... :-?

as far as jogging...no problem there... :D

Col. Bud doesn't go near the river when a gator is in the vicinity, perhaps he can smell them..I have no idea..I just know he doesn't... 8)

but when one is close...I definately think he's eyeing Col. Bud for dinner...they say the 'gator and smell dog..and it's their favorite... :o

There's an old Far Side cartoon of a copule gators sitting under a tree, resting after a big meal and picking their teeth. They had just finished eating a kyacker and they were commenting how tasty the soft pink meat was.

it's been some time (they tell me) since one has come out of the river and ventured up the bluff...where we live..

we also suspect someone is taking one ('gator) now and then..

we have the occasional manatee and 3 dolpins visited one afternoon..

Reminds of a t-shirt I once had .... it showed two sharks having munched on a couple of divers...Saying something like, "They are chewey on the outside, tasty on the inside, and these toothpicks ( showing spearguns) are really great for after dinner!" and picking their teeth.
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

My best summer solstice memory: Going out for a summer solstice sunset paddle with the Orcas...mind you that sunset was between 11pm and midnight way up there. It was magical...the sky was lavender, then purple...the orcas were feeding and frolicking (and occasionally bumping the kayaks) and I was with a group of friends who had become as close as family in a very short period of time (almost losing your life while paddling at night in a rainstorm will do that).

Wish I could go back tonight and do it all over again...sigh.....
